What are the Trekbbs ads trying to sell to you?

University of Phoenix. This never appealed to me, personally. I was able to work through an academic program at a local branch of a state university at much lower tuition cost than UoP, and without ending up with any student debt (UoP is well-known in that regard: source). I used community college as a stepping stone toward admissions, and in the end I obtained a degree that is more respected academically and professionally.

Birth control pills or making a donation, or both.

Planned Parenthood's "My Birth Control is My Business (Give)" ad popped up just a moment ago.

I was reading the thread "Women's issues - bodily functions and such" a few minutes ago. I wonder if my reading that thread had anything to do with that ad popping up. Never seen that ad before.

Sirius XM satellite radio. My last car was supposedly "Sirius XM-ready." But when I looked into it, it turned out that I would have had to spend a few hundred dollars to install the satellite receiver equipment. So I don't know what that phrase was supposed to mean, exactly.

Nice Curves.

2017 Equifax data breach settlement. I doubt that I qualify, but I guess I'll take a look and see just in case.

Edit: Also, a couple of really plain, unappealing all-text ads to buy tickets for the movie "Angel Has Fallen." How strange. Why wouldn't they have a little poster banner instead?

Apparently, I need a professional e-mail client to handle my personal (nonexistent) business, and I should consider buying a Pixel or a Pixel 3.

An ad to visit Cleveland, Ohio. I never really thought of it as a premier tourist destination. I guess I learned something today.

Some website I've never heard of before is trying to sell outdoor cat cages that are large enough for them to roam around in and for you to enter. I wonder if it's because I looked those type of cages up on Amazon.

Very likely. They use your browsing history plus keywords in the posts you type.

On my Dune forum years ago, we were discussing Patrick Stewart/Gurney Halleck carting the Atreides pug dog around with him throughout the Lynch movie. Next thing we knew, Google Ad Sense was showing us ads for pug breeders and obedience lessons.

Then I REALLY wonder why they're trying to sell me on that dating site for adultery. I can't think of a single thing I've searched or typed about ever...no, wait! I mentioned that there were some themes of adultery in the story I posted. That's just...wow. Wow.

And now you're posting about it here, too, which just reinforces your "interests" in Google's eye. It's a feedback loop! ;)

I think certain ads are "stock," and others are influenced by your searches to varying degrees.

Currently I'm getting an ad for "Support Israel" pins, CenturyLink internet service, and some kind of medical lab testing that you can do yourself.

I was getting an ad for burgers at Carl's Jr. when I was in the thread about vegetarian burgers.
