Spoilers What are the reasons for not using LCARS anymore, in the 32nd century?

During the 32nd century, we have seen another kind of holographic display at least in starfleet installations and shuttles.

Considering that at the end of the 24th century there were holographic displays using LCARS and centuries later timeships like the Relativity used a version of it, during the 29th century, i wonder why this kind of interface was eventually abandoned.

It worked "good enough " to suit the purpose. But, with the holographic interfaces taking on more and more roles an update was needed. Long overdue if you ask me.

But holographic displays were already used almost everywhere at the end of the 24th century/beginning of the 25th century, so what could have changed?

I'm probably more partial to LCARS type interfaces then a lot of the "futuristic" floaty versions we see in DIS, personally. One reason I enjoy my laptop more than my phone at times is that the computer has a physical keyboard, and I can type without needing my eyes to see the keys. I can't do that with my phone because it's solely touchscreen, and it's far less ergonomic to use for longer periods. I think at times it's easy for writers/artists to forget how useful the tactile sense is for humans.

Just a theory here, but it could do with the negative stigma the Federation had after the burn. LCARS being used for centuries to that point probably meant that the LCARS system conjured memories of the Federation. Perhaps in an attempt to get people to "forget the past", LCARS was replaced with a different user interface.

The thing with LCARS & Holographic LCARS is that programmable matter could've been used in a "Smart Method" to simulate physical buttons below the projected Hologram so that the end user can feel buttons when tapping on the panel and give the sensation of a button press without having to hard design any dedicated buttons.

Since it's "Programmable Matter", you can easily do that while using LCARS on top, this way you can get the best of both worlds.
