What are the best TV space ships/starships?

I'd like to point out that the reason the SDF-1 didn't show up in the second and third season of Robotech is because Robotech is made up of three Japanese anime series unrelated to each other (Macross, Southern Cross, MOSPEADA).

Yes, absolutely--although it was occasionally referenced in the final "Robotech" product (Hunter comes back as Admiral of the SDF-3, etc.). The show seems to get panned a lot for cramming the shows together, but I think they made the storyline fit fairly well, and I think it works.

That's a pretty un-inspired list.

Thanks sojourner. And your list would differ by including... ? Seriously, how do you have a truly "inspired" list of the best space ships? Should I have included something really obscure and crappy for the sake of being cool (that I knew about this really obscure show)? Your comment, short as it is, smacks of that ridiculous mindset that anything popular sucks, and things are only interesting if they're on the fringe. Ridiculous. Share your top 5, and let's compare lists.

Tom Corbett's Polaris is a really interesting choice. Which Enterprise would you include? I think Archer's looked the coolest, and Picard's had the coolest gadgets (holodeck!), but went with Kirk's because it's the icon.

Moya
Enterprise C
Shadow Battle Crab from B5
Battlestar Galactica (Both old and new)

Interesting one criteria for the obvious choice of the 1701 as #1 is that it wasn't designed to look like a plane. If that's the case, then where's the TARDIS? ;)

But, according to Matt Jefferies, it was designed using "airplane logic," as evidenced by the placement of the engine nacelles and the bridge.

The original TOS ship - not the ST:TMP version, which isn't strictly "TV."

1. The TARDIS (Doctor Who)
2. Enterprise D (Trek)
3. White Star (B5)
4. Mining Ship Red Dwarf (Red Dwarf)
5. Thunder fighter (Buck Rogers In The Twenty-Fifth Century)

I like Blake's 7 but the Liberator looks like a kitchen implement of some kind.
Yup, and I love Babylon 5, and the White Stars are indeed Bad Ass ships, but, even JMS calls them plucked turkeys.

23Skidoo, I actually had TARDIS written down on my last post, but, thought people wouldn't accept it, so I deleted it.

Enterprise 1701 (TOS)
Eagle Transporter (Space:1999)
Jupiter 2[season 3 with Spacepod bay] (Lost In Space)
Battlestar Galactica (1978-1980)
Seeker (Space Academy)
