What are some of your favorite candies from childhood?

Back when I was a kid, nothing could beat the good old Tunnock's Caramel Wafer. I think they changed the recipe a while back, but I can't help but feel they're not quite the same anymore.

I still eat all of my favorite candies from childhood:

-Skittles (original)
-100 Grand
-Snickers
-Milky Way
-Nestle's Crunch

The rest of my list falls into similar things (like gummy bears, jelly beans, or chocolate-covered mints) made by various other companies.

But I do remember now a few candies from a local department store in my area I had as a kid that went out of production when the store closed. I remember the good times that I had when I had those candies more than what they tasted like...

Jolly Rancher, especially sour apple, and watermelon was a close second. Should say "was", still love them to this day.

I remember the "Stix" versions, that the cellophane wrapper would get stuck to, and you could suck it down to a sharp edge that would slice your tongue. Ahhh, good times.

I have always loved Junior Mints.

Something about the texture of them that I just love.

I also really loved Sweet Tarts and Carmel Creams as a child. But I don't even know if they exist anymore.

Heh. Kids get ripped off nowadays. When I was little, it was full-sized candy bars. Some of the great stuff we'd get for Halloween were: Cracker Jax (regular-sized boxes) and home-made popcorn balls, the occasional taffy apple and even Rice Krispies treats.

This was when people still had trust. When I was around 10, there was a "don't eat apples" scare as some clods put pins/needles in them, or so it was said. Given that most apples given were plain and not candy apples, it was no loss. :D

I used to love popcorn balls and candy apples. Now, after years of dental work, those, along with Dots and other sticky treats, are pretty much off-limits.

Mmm...Halloween candy. The ONLY thing that sucks about being a grown-up is losing the fun of Halloween. It was awesome in the 60s and 70s.

the fun of Halloween NEVER dies, can't eat the sticky stuff? Jolly Ranchers or other hard candies, and your never too old for a costume

When I was in junior high, we used to all try to make our own sour candy. It was pretty much a competition each week to see who could come in with the most sour thing. It usually involved a lot of ground up Warheads and packets of Kool-Aid.

The key ingredient in sour confectionary is citric acid. You can buy it from most chemist shops if you go well dressed.

It's extracted from lime juice, so is safe to consume, but it's very sour. It is used as an ingredient in some indian cuisine too, so you can also find it in asian supermarkets.

My favorite candy bar of all time is the Reggie Bar.I have no recollection of what was in it, I just know it was the best damn candy bar of all time

Been meaning to post this. For those who want to recreate their childhoods, this company has quite a few of the items people have mentioned here. Sadly, not at the prices we remember, but not too bad.
