What are some good parts/elements from "Generations" (ST7)?

I also find the visual effects to be top-notch. The 6-foot model of the Enterprise D absolutely shines in the widescreen format. When your last seasons gives you nothing but the 4-foot model to look at, I can see why someone would want a newer ship. But when they took the 6-foot model and filmed it for a movie, you definitely didn't need a new ship.

I found the visual effects in Generations to be superior to both FC, INS and even parts of Nemesis. They were excellent.

If we're going to bring up the other TNG films, I would put FC above Generations. FC's effects were not only all new (Generations re-used visual effects from both TNG and Star Trek VI), but it was also dealing with brand new designs for Starships that we had never seen in Star Trek before. There was a consistency between how the effects and live action elements looked. Insurrection'a effects did not blend in well with the live action elements AT ALL and Nemesis's effects were just bland.

If I'm being honest, we may have issues with how the cast were used, but the performances from the actors themselves were all spot on imho. Stewart & Shatner & even McDowell really give it a great go, & the supporting cast are all delivering too. None of the acting seems out of place. Everyone's on point. (Except you can really tell from the poor fitting dialog that the opening is supposed to instead have Spock & Bones) Even Lursa & B'etor are played just as they should be. Whatever issues there are, the actors did a damn good job keeping me in it, like they're supposed to.

The score is mostly good, particularly when Kirk goes down to Deck 15. That piece really sticks out.

The saucer section crash sequence in itself was great. The sequence that led up to it, however, was pure mental retardation.

Otherwise there isn't much about the film I can compliment.
