What age is the average trekker?

Yeah, I'd say the average ranges from mid 20s (kids who grew up with TNG, like me) to mid 40s (kids who saw TOS first-run and when it was in syndication in the 70s).

My best recollection is that I started watching Trek right as it went into syndication in the very early 70's. I am 46.

i remeber when i was 5 or 6 my old dad sat me down in front of the telly which had 'balance of terror' on he said
"son nows the time to see some real tv"
i'm 38 now and still love trek

Seems like I'm one of the younger ones...I'm 16. :) I started watching Voyager around 5 or 6, and slowly got into the other Treks as time went on.

well, I turn 21 next week as a matter of fact, and have been watching trek since around middle school.

I was flipping around television, and happened upon Star Trek IV. I liked it, and started watching the more Dramatic TOS. I was a causal TOS fan for some time, and then one day I was tooling around Wal mart looking for a movie and decided to try Star Trek II.....

I was blown away.....

and that started my true descent into Trekdom. from then on I've been a diehard. I quickly got into TNG and DS9, and collected those three shows and the ten films on DVD over my high school and freshman year of college. Never did care for Voyager and enerprise. They were okay, but nothing I felt compelled to get really into

Still a huge fan, and have converted the girlfriend as well. when you have a girlfriend who forbids you from watching DS9 with other women because "that's our thing" you've got it made:)

I'm 49. I vaguely remember seeing one or two TOS episodes when I was 7 or 8 (my dad was a regular viewer), but didn't really get into it until I was 13, when the series was running in syndication on our local NBC affiliate.

I am 24 and really started watching Star Trek when I was 10. It was a great time to be introduced to this universe. TNG had just finished and was already being repeated on BBC2 and Sky 1. DS9 was finding it's feet properly, Voyager was starting and Generations came out.

I still love Star Trek and as a child and a teenager it was always there for me in a way that none of my 'friends' ever were. It helped me gain the confidence to be myself and not hide behind a shield of shyness and quietness. For that I am grateful and am sure that when I am 70 it will still mean a lot to me

I'm 20, have been watching Trek since I was born pretty much, TNG was staple in my family.
Also and honest to goodness, my earliest memory is of seeing Star Trek VI in theatre... yeah.

I sure hope there's other trekkers out there around my age... would kind of defeat my plan of marrying one :(

Don't dispair there are Trekkers of all ages 'out there' or you could do what I did and convert from scratch. My wife had watched barely any Sci-fi she's now seen all ST:TOS, DS9 most of TNG, All the movies and also is now addicted to x-files, is a Star Wars fan, has seen all B5, Battlestar Galactica- you get the point!
