What age is the average trekker?

The main audience of both TOS and TNG was people in college. Does this mean that the average age of trekkers is somewhere between 45-55 years old today?

There were trek fans that were in their 20's and 30's when TOS & TNG started

Yeah, I'd say the average ranges from mid 20s (kids who grew up with TNG, like me) to mid 40s (kids who saw TOS first-run and when it was in syndication in the 70s).

I was four years away from being born when TOS started and I'm 38 now, and I have loved Star Trek for as long as I can remember. . I'm not sure there is an age range. Like everything else, liking Star Trek is more a matter of individual taste.

I'm in the dare I say it, next generation of trekkies I got into Trek through syndication on several networks, but I think I'm in the vast minority on this site.

edit:

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I'm 19.

About 5 years ago I had to adjust a TV for a lady in her 80's. She sat about a metre from her 19" TV. The TV was old and the picture was going so I adjusted it the best that I could and told her that the quality would vary by channel and program. She told me to turn it to the Space Channel because that was what she watched most. She said she had always watched Star Trek with her husband when he was still alive. She didn't care much for DS9 (didn't think it was real Trek) but liked TOS, TNG and Voyager. When I left she was watching Stargate SG-1, another program she really enjoyed.

Taking just the people who post on this BBS as a statistical sample, I'm not sure you could say there's any such thing as an average trekker, no matter what age.

I'm 18 and been a fan as long as I can remember from watching TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT first-run with my father.

I'm 38 and have been a fan since I was four. The Animated were airing on Saturday morning and TOS was in syndication when I signed on board.

not sure about that.
there are a fair amount in here from the 17 to 27 year old range.

trek always has drawn in new fans from the syndicated reruns.
and as much grief as enterprise gets it also pulled in some younger fans too.

I'm 25. My parents watched Star Trek as kids with their parents, and they all got me into it at a very young age. And now I get paid to make art for Star Fleet Battles, which is pretty cool. :)
