What age is the average trekker?

I'd say there are lots of fans from pretty much every demographic and we didn't all grow up watching the original series as it ran.

I'm 20 years old and grew up watching reruns of TNG and TOS followed by the original run of Voyager (I'm not sure why DS9 wasn't on my channels). On the other hand my dad loved TOS and the TNG in their original runs. Star Trek seems to be fairly universal as far as age goes.

Not sure about your definition of "Trekker" but at VegasCon most of the people in costume seemed to be in their early 20's.

I was 9 years old when TNG started and that was when I became a Star Trek fan (well, I forgot about TNG not until the start of season 3 came and I managed to get caught up with with what I missed). I'm 30 years old now :p

I've no idea what age the average Trek fan is. I know that there are young people on this board, folks who are at school and college and in their early 20s. I know when I go to cons there are folks there in their 30s, 40s and 50s, and I know of other fans who are older than that, and others who have sadly passed due to old age. And there are kids at the cons I go to. I've still really no idea of the "average" age.

What is the average age of just plain everyone? Trekkers come from all demographics and age brackets. So the average age of all the humans on Earth today is...

47-17.01= about 30 I suppose.

Yep, the average is up there - certainly in the late thirties or into the forties.

The knock on "Star Trek" is that its fans are old. Most sponsors and licensees will go for a smaller audience of young folks over a bigger audience of middle-aged and older people. Unless they're buying at CBS, of course.

I'm 27, it was TNG that got me hooked. I used to save my pocket money religiously so I could afford to get the videos each time they came out.

43, life-long fan. Seriously, I have it on good (parental) authority that I watched the first episode of TOS with my dad when I was almost two.

Became a fan in March 1990 (with "The Offspring"). I was 18 then. I'm 36 now and as big a fan as ever.

I'm 41 now but I remember watching it in syndication when I was young. I didn't get into TNG or DS9 till later and I now own every episode and movie and love watching them all.

I'm 18 now. I got into Trek when I was 12, thanks to (deep breath) my brother's friend's dad's TNG DVDs.

I'm 25... and I came across TNG in 2002. I was never interested in it when I was a kid... but hey, I 'found' it anyway. ;)

41 now, and been a fan for 33 of those years (started watching TOS in syndication in the UK when I was around seven, although it took me a year or so to really get into it).
