What advertising have you seen so far?

Let’s see. On television I have seen commercial promos while watching “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and “Fringe”. Both of those shows air on Fox.

On the Internet I have seen advertisements (some Intel ads) and links to the trailer on various Star Trek websites and message boards.

The Trailer and movie have been reported on several Entertainment/Sci-Fi related sites I occasionally visit for information (e.g. SyFy Portal, UGO.com, IESB.net, SciFi Wire News, AintItCool.com).

I haven’t seen anything on the SciFi channel though. Maybe they figure those viewers probably already know about the movie.

It seems they are especially going after the male viewers. There are a lot of females out there who like the Sci-Fi genre too (myself included). They should start promoting on channels that have a large female viewing demographic too (e.g. A&E, Bravo, Oxygen, WE, Lifetime).

Not to mention the stations that probably have a more mixed viewership (USA, TNT, FX, TBS).

Don't forget, people.

Ads for the movie run this weekend during the Super Bowl.

I know it's already been mentioned that a banner ad has appeared on ESPN.com, but just today I noticed that the trailer appears in a sidebar on the ESPN.com NFL page.

The trailer plays up to the part when the 'vette is just going over the cliff as young Jimmy hangs on to the edge, then it stops and prompts you to click to view the rest of the trailer.

EDIT TO ADD:
I went through each of the major sports pages (pro and college) on that website, and it seems the Star Trek ad only appears on the NFL page. Considering this, along with the Super Bowl ad, and it seems they are trying to hit that NFL fan demographic -- which is young to middle-aged men, say 24 to 45 years old (although, granted, the Super Bowl attracts all ages, both men and women, and entire families.)

The fairly-new, Bow Tie Cinema in my city, on the corner of the main thoroughfare, has been rotating (two each) the FACES Posters outside in it's multiple sidewalk displays, since the posters became available.

(They seem to do it about once a month.)

And has had all the available poster images displayed inside, in various places as well.

Does anybody know if the Super Bowl ad is going to be something new??

I've actually heard an Esurance radio ad pushing a contest on who is the biggest Trekkie. The winner goes to the Hollywood premiere of the movie.

Not bad...on ESPN? This where casual fans go.
Impressed with TWO ads. Top and then lower right.
Only thing I don't like is the old font.
As a casual fan, that STAR TREK font just makes me think its still the same ol 1960s shit with fans dressed as klingons in the movie theatre

^^Ah. So it IS on the ESPN.com front page now. I think yesterday it was only on ESPN.com's NFL page.

Is this a deliberate push to give the film some exposure to sports fans prior to the Super Bowl ad?

I haven't seen much advertising just on various internet sites.

Regarding the Super Bowl ad, has anyone seen or heard when during the game it is scheduled to be on? I'm planning on watching the whole game but have to make sure my dog doesn't really need to go out when the commercial might air.

Not much at all to be honest from my end. Just the trailer, some banners, the movie theatre I go to has the character teaser posters. The Countdown and Comic Con posters at the local comic shop are about it that I can recall.

^^ Oh, did they play the Super Bowl last night? I didn't notice.
I was watching "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" and a movie on the "Lifetime Network" instead.

The Super Bowl as was awesome. My nitpick about 2250s San Francisco looking too much like Coruscant from STAR WARS aside for the moment.:p

I'm seeing more online banners as well as TV spots on certain networks. The promos have definitely accelerated in frequency as May rapidly approaches.
