What about Odo...

Where and when did Odo get his name, in all the other encounters with other shape-shifters, espically the female shifter he never mentions any names?? Mabey, shifters should be given Borg Designations. 456,432 of 123,786,945 may be a bit ponderous though : )

Speaking about the female shifter, the scene when they show Odo and her after Odo shows her how solids have sex, she is a bit dissapointed with the experience. I must say that melting into a big glob of glowing goo with another person does seem to have it's advantages...

Season 1 of DS9, "The Forsaken", I think, Odo tells Lwaxana Troi that his name Odo was given to him by the Bajoran scientist that studied him. In a later episode, "The Alternate" (S2), his full name is stated as Odo Ital, which means "unknown sample".

Correct, except that both episodes are wrong. It was first explained in s3's "Heart of Stone" and reiterated in s7's "Chimera."

Well, sort of. Dr. Mora didn't give Odo his name, the other Bajoran scientists did.

And odo'ital is a Cardassian word, it means (literally) "nothing". That's how the Cardassians translated the Bajoran term for 'unknown sample.' The other Bajorans called Odo by that name as a joke, 'Odo Ital' like a Bajoran name.

The Female Changeling was disappointed with the sex as in her eyes it paled in comparison to the intimacy of the Great Link.
