A lot of what's supposedly established about the relative ages of the TOS characters is either fanon or derived from reference sources rather than "canon." Hell, the "Spock is a lot older than the others" thing rears its head quite often despite evidence to the contrary.

I'm simply going by he apparent ages as seen on screen and Roddenberry's stated desire that the doctor be somewhat (originally, in the person of Boyce, a whole lot) older than the captain. Kelly always looked to have about a decade on Shatner. (I read somewhere that "Joanna" became "The Way to Eden" in part because Fred Freiberger thought that Bones and Kirk were about the same age. Go figure.) JtB made it pretty clear, through Amanda's relative youth, that Kirk and Spock were roughly contemporaries. I got the impression that Scotty was older than Kirk but younger than McCoy.
Anbody know how many years Kelley had on Shatner? I'll pop over to imdb and try to find out.
EDIT: 11 years. He and Doohan were both born in 1920, Shatner and Nimoy in 1931. Answered my question.
