I don't agree that the Prime reality is out of reach because you can always dimension hop over to it, but I don't want to see it or any more time travel. Move forward already!

But this is Star Trek! Since when has something like another timeline or another universe ever stopped anyone in Star Trek? Spock would certainly find a way to travel between those two timelines/branches or at least establish communication between them. In DS9 we saw some handy device that allows one to travel to the Mirror Universe and back, why wouldn't it work here?
And then there is always Q ... or the timeships in the 29th century.

Hopefully the new writers are smart enough to know not to touch the Nexus with a ten light year pole.
"Something like" perhaps. But the Nexus itself seemed to put you back into the dimension you'd originally left, regardless of where in its timeline. We didn't see Kirk memory hopping for a quickie into the Mirror Universe.
