what about a Back to the Future II type plot for ST3?

a BTTF2/Trials&Tribulations (& Terminator 5?) deal with Quinto Spock zipping across timelines and repairing stuff, interacting with familiar events from the Prime timeline (TOS,TNG)

Sure time travels been done 3 times already in the ST movies (or 4 if you count Generations) but not in the fun BTTF2 type way (which could be fun for the 50th like DS9s T&T was for the 30th)

This would only work (and be fun) as a comedy, IMO. And frankly, I wouldn´t want to waste a whole Star Trek movie on a comedy - with a TV episode that´s different.

No more time travel movies - PLEASE!!!!!

I thought STIV: The Voyage Home's whole purpose was to be a fun romp. However, it's my least favorite film with the original cast.

And your concept only features Spock. Where do Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, and all those other guys fit in?

I don't want any more time travel stories. The one in ST09 was handled neatly to set up the new movies. Time travel plots are usually clumsy affairs and I've frankly had enough of them.

They'd all feature throughout :)

Well then, sorry, but it's too thin of a high concept device for me if all you have is Spock as Marty McFly, and everybody else is just a bunch of Doc Browns.

And interacting with events from the Prime Universe? Then you have to negotiate with the other actors whose images you're using for those scenes. Too expensive.

This is why Woody Allen's Zelig used mostly public domain newsreel footage.

No. Just...no. No "repairing the timeline". No "going back to save Vulcan" (impossible in the new rules anyway). No more "prime Trek" onscreen.

I think Trek has went to the time travel well a bit too often in the movies. But I'm not against going again if it's a good story. I don't think the pitch in the OP qualifies.

Well, I do want to see a functioning TOS Connie in the background somewhere... :techman:

I'm down with this idea only if the sequel has Joe Flaherty delivering an envelope via Western Union to inform Spock that Doc Brown is alive and well in 1885.

I wonder about the people over in the timeline where Sliders is just wrapping up its nineteenth season. You figure they're making out all right?

It's not going to happen - no going to see the Guardian; no slingshotting around stars to go back in time; no temporal repairs to restore timelines to the way they had been X, Y or Z years before. The notion of a timeline as strictly linear (and thus repairable or needing repair) is obsolete. The Prime timeline is effectively out of reach, and the only available option in the alternate reality is to continue to move forward along that branch.
