What a long, interesting year it's been...

So as I prepare to celebrate New Year's in two weeks; I reflect on what a strange year it's been. It's been generally good; which is always a plus and a rarity in my life time, but there were some low points as well:

- Just last week my grandma fell, broke her hip and is now in the hospital. Being 89, I am very concern about her -- health; mentally and physically.

- The damn doctor's still trying to determine what the hell is wrong with my right ear. No tumor that they know of but they don't know why I have dizzy spells. Since this was and still is a low priority, I won't get this checked out until next year.

- My right arm finally deciding to quit on me. It keeps jamming at the worst of times as well

Some highlights

- Both my parents, my sisters, and my grandmother hitting milestone birthdays. Parents turn 60, sisters turn 30 and grandma turning 90 ^.^ Huge party was thrown in July. Was lots of fun.

- Getting a job, full time later on and some medical insurance. Huzzah!

- A few of my friends got engaged or married this past year

- My closest friend moving to a new house with his wife. Starting a family. Yay!

- My sister having another little rug rat running around. This won't be until next year but still counting it toward this year.

- IIRC no one close to me died this year which is a rarity since at least one person I know dies. Though, a co-worker died tragically

Hopefully next year will be as good as this year has been ^.^

Back in my day, it would take a lot more than this to make a chaps' head explode. We had the stiff-upper-lippedness necessary to keep exploding heads to a minimum in built-up areas. And in cases of Premature Cranial Explosion like this, lots of glue, bandages and withering stares.

Could be Samhain, which is considered by some to be the start of the pagan Wheel of the Year. Are you Wiccan, kiwi?

Although that doesn't make sense if he's in NZ (I'm assuming because of the kiwi name), because it's only celebrated in late-October - early November in the Northern Hemisphere.

Personally, I don't really care about New Years as a holiday on anyone's calendar, but I'm glad you've had a positive year overall and hope you have a nice celebration - whatever that entails. This year has been the best of my life by far, so I'm kind of glad I don't expect it to end for another two and a half months. Maybe things can continue to be awesome for a little while longer.

I always found it amusing that they kept the names of the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th months the same, despite relegating them to the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th months respectively.
