But finding an Enterprise would be effectively meaningless to the Voyager crew, beyond the fun fact that they just left one in the 23rd century. The history that made Enterprise an icon of the Federation is decades ahead of them.

I posted a "theory" (more just random speculation) about why there was no Enterprise seen in the 32nd Century SFHQ, but there was a Voyager. Basically, I reasoned that the Enterprise, as the "super starship" it was known to be in the 23rd/24th centuries, lost its public appeal. Meanwhile, the Voyager's Delta Quadrant foray took over as the stuff of legends, and it became the new default flagship line, whose successors saw many thrilling missions.

Unless the ship in the nebula is the Enterprise-F.

    :D

But who are we kidding? It’s going to be that Discovery from Calypso, in a ham fisted effort to shoehorn that Short Trek into this continuity.

I'm talking about from the audience's perspective. I'm looking at the show business angle.

When they show the Enterprise-F in Picard, they'll want everyone watching -- including me -- saying "Wow! Look at the new Enterprise!" They don't want someone in the back (whoever "that person" is), to be like "But what about the Enterprise-Z in Discovery?" They'll want all of our eyes on the F, which will have all the limelight as the newest, most advanced canon Enterprise we've seen. (And don't be "that person" who says "But what about the Enterprise-J?!")

Timing is everything. You have to wait for the right moment. That's why they unveiled the Voyager-J. It's a legacy ship that some of us will want to see, but it's not the legacy ship. They'll save it. I have no doubt we'll eventually see another Enterprise in Discovery, I just don't think we'll see it at this particular point.

Btw, we probably won't see what's in the nebula until at least 2 weeks time.
This season seems to 'revisit' themes from earlier episodes (aka, does follow-ups) every other episode.

I don't mind the Calypso Disco being in the nebula.
Question is... what have the writers done to integrate it into the rest of continuity (assuming they decided to do that and not just leave Calypso as a standalone episode that served as a drawing board for S3)?
If its a good integration, then sure.... if a bad one... well, we won't be able to change that. :D

As soon as I finished the episode I came up with the idea that it'll be Calypso Disco. I thought it would probably be unlikely, but seeing that everyone else has the same theory I'm going to say it's correct. After all, we figured out the twist with Tyler long before the reveal.

So my guess would be that in a different universe that's mostly the same, the crew used the spore drive to send the ship to the Prime universe to hide it from Control. Somehow, it ends up causing the Burn. This can also tie into what's happening to Georgiou. This universe has driven a wedge between the PU and the MU, dividing them enough that she's destabilizing.

After all this speculation it’ll be funny if it turns out to be just some random starship.

Why does everyone assume they are already done with the 1701-E and on to the 1701-F? I haven’t seen it said anywhere that it had been destroyed or decommissioned in Picard.

Even Picard doesn't like the E! He only dreams of his beloved D.
