Oh I know, that's why I'm saying it about Transformers. But I haven't heard any early reviews about Transformers. I wasn't really impressed with the first one though.People said that about Terminator-4. See where that is now.Maybe Transformers will have a really bad time at the box office this year?![]()
^Loyal fan, shameless promoter, series creator (rejected, but still did my part), four decade long consumer, etc.
Just sayin'...
Isn't anybody gonna sing "Faith of the Heart"?![]()
We're not drunk enough yet!
We've won!
A couple of years back, there was a cook here at the hotel from Louisianna. When one of the college basketball teams won a championship, he came into work with a brand new ball cap, hollerin' about how "we" won.
My boss asked him, "Which position did you play?"
Just sayin'...

So, other than givin' the movie theater money for a ticket, ya had almost nothin' to do with this "victory," right? Just like pretty much every other fan who went to see the new Trek and is now claimin' a win because of the box office total.
I'm a fan, have been since I was a kid, told everyone I know to go see the new movie for over a month leadin' up to its release, took friends to see the movie after it came out, sent in stories to Strange New Worlds (rejected), and have all kinds of Trek stuff in my apartment, but I'm not goin' to start a riot in the streets because a movie I had nothin' to do with prior to it bein' released is number one at the box office.
That may just be me, though.

No matter what happens from now on, nuTrek will have been a commercial success.

But it has to keep it up - each one now has to be bigger and better than the one before.

Picture this - you go to a party and everyone is having a good time, you then try and start an discussion about the middle east and the Israel/Palastine problem - and everyone looks at you like you've shit in the punchbowl.
You are having that sort of moment...
For me, this is a mixed bag.
I'm pleased with the new film. I've never been a nay-sayer. I'm no purist. I stayed on the fence for a very, very long time. In some ways, I suppose I always will be. It was a good flick and I'm thrilled it's doing well and that Trek seems to have broken some old barriers down.
All of that said, there is still a small part of me nagging at the back of my mind saying "this isn't really, honest, true, morality play Star Trek or any of it's siblings. This is a whole new and separate entity." I feel some pang of bitter-sweet regret that it took so many drastic steps to bring Trek into the main stream and that none of the actors we've loved for decades where there for it, really, outside of Leonard.
So, I'm happy. I am. Just... happy the way a parent living vicariously and nostalgically through a child is, you know?
we are star trekking across the universe.
Don't get too enthusiastic! The year isn't half over yet!

In my eyes you haven't won a thing. A popcorn flick makes money at the beginning of summer--whoopee! Come back in a few years and tell me how this piece-o-shit holds up. Lots of shitty movies I'd never give a first let alone second thought to make decent money in the summer. As of right now, Star Trek is the biggest box office earner of 2009.

The lifelong Trekkie/Trekker in me is having hardcore nerdgasms at that fact! I am like Peter North of Trekkers tonight.
My message to the naysayers- kindly STFU!It's for your own good.
Star Trek is BACK baby!![]()

Do I sound petty? Oh, I just remembered I don't give a shit about that either.
