Except for a few select scenes here and there, I didn't mind Wesley, either. Justice was probably the only episode I had a strong negative reaction towards Wesley, with Final Mission being his best.
The only two things that bothered me were the "child prodigy" aspect to Wesley, and it seemed like there were way too many times he didn't make the cut for Starfleet.
They should have just made him an above average kid, maybe just had a strong interest in engineering, but not played up the idea he was some genius. That right there would have gone a long way to make him more tolerable for a lot of people. I think that is what helped sell Jake Sisko character...its like they learned what NOT to do and 2what didn't work with Wesley, when they wrote Jake Sisko.
I also feel that they cheated us with Nemesis. They should have had more Wesley in it, and I would have liked to have found out how he made it back to starfleet. It could have even been a couple lines, and it would have made me happy. Instead, the cut most of his scenes, down to a 2 second glimpse of him. That's just wrong.
I'm glad things pretty much worked out well for Will Wheaton, though. He had a rough patch, and his acting career never took off, but at least he is making a decent living, and his wife is very hot. Good for him!
He could have easily ended up like a lot of child stars, and become a total mess. Danny Bonaduce, anyone?
