Not at all. But the influx was expected, for as any Trekker/ie know, there are more haters. If any it was redundant, as it is as close a consensus as we have.

I never really understand the Wesley hate. He was fine. I liked Neelix too.

Not that I love Wesley or anything, but I was kind of pissed when Wil Wheaton left the show then showed up randomly once and a while.
Anakin was an ass from his childhood in The Phantom Menace, to chopped up idiot in Revenge of the Sith. Wesley was intelligent, and did not think the world of himself (Anakin). His only fault was poor writers making Wesley a toned down Will (Lost in Space) Robinson--a child who knows enough to aid his adult counterparts more than the average kid.
On the other hand, Anakin was just greedy, self-absorbed and suffering from a God-complex that rivals that of Jim Jones (or Michael Jackson).
I think Wil was simply a victim of bad advice from his agent, encouraging him to leave the show and continue his film career.
Well, it's not like Crosby didn't do the exact same thing. Get out, then spend the rest of her career trying to get back in.

Her Romulan-daughter was kind of cool though.

Wesley was odd to me at first. As a kid growing up watching Next Gen, Wes wasn't like any kid I knew at the time. I associated more with Data or it's later seasons honorable Worf. I liked his send off to Starfleet and they should have expanded on his career (I figured he'd make a better science officer than operations or command) instead of evolving him. Even after the boy genius start, I would have accepted him in the permanent roll of ship's pilot.

I wonder how bad it actually was or whether the story has grown over the years. At the cons I've been to if people started booing they would be ushered out.
