Went to see the movie with a friend...

Praetorian

Captain
Captain
...and he didn't like it!

He's not even an anti-science fiction person since he enjoys Star Wars, Star Gate, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly and so on..

However he thought the movie was full of plot holes, contrivances and coincidences and was not impressed at all!

I wasn't expecting this, and though I agree with pratically everything he said, since he enjoyed the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy I was expecting him to atleast be entertained...
I even thought he was going to grow an interest in Star Trek with this movie but alas, that was not meant to be!

Obviously, people having different tastes is something perfectly natural, this however was somewhat of a surprise.

Contempt for lazy writing transcends interest in science fiction... but if he liked the Wars prequels... hmm.

I wouldn't really put much stock into the cinematic opinions of anybody who enjoyed the Star Wars prequels. Seriously.

The movie was full of plot holes, contrivances and coincidences. That really is obvious, isn't it? It's really not that good a movie - Eventually the glitter will fall out of people's eyes and they'll wonder what they ever saw in it. Kind of like Titanic.

Ummmm It entertained me for 2 hours. That's really all I asked for and I think I got it. It's MAKE BELIEVE!

I respectfully disagree and have to take the side of Praetorian's friend and say the Star Wars prequels were better. They are fun to watch. Damn it, I want to watch them now.

So far those I have seen, read about, and watched it with have had the opposite reaction. ST 09 is practically Shakespeare compared to the prequel trilogy.

I love the Star Wars prequels but the new Star Trek is better than all three of the prequels combined times 5.

Of course the Prequels were better than JJ-Trek!

Well, Heaven's! Everyone knows that!

BTW, you do know what happened to the poor bastard who fucked up the Kelvin's Registry Number, don't you?

....just checking!

The Prequels Were Better....

Got any mitochondira?

It's okay with me if other people don't like star trek. To each his/her own. I know I loved it and that's all that counts. :)

Some people will always just be haters.
Yep, that's unfortunate.

That's one thing to buggles me. If they didn't like it because of sacro-saint canon (and I don't want to start that debate again), it is explainable that they may have something to say. But If they just didn't like it, which they're fully entitled too, why do they bitch about it?
