You know, there's one angle I'm surprised nobody in fanfic, fanfilms or "official" novel series ever bothered to pick up on, and it's just waiting to be explored:
Commodore "Bob" Wesley and his crew aboard the Starship Lexington. There's a TOS-era story, and some faces can be seen and extrapolated upon from the background of "The Ultimate Computer", but everything is vague enough that you could assign whatever you wanted to it so long as it fit in with what we saw. Right offhand, I know we saw Wesley on his bridge (which had a "high-backed" command throne installed), and there's a crew-cut blueshirt at the science station. There's something to start with.
