David Tennant has been cast in the Roddy McDowall role for the remake of Fright Night.

Didn't see that coming. Not a great fan of remakes per se but the cast looks good on this. Be interesting to see how the modify the Peter Vincent character given that Tennant doesn't seem really old enough to be playing the tired old stager/ham that McDowall did so well.

^ I think that the character will be a stage magician this time round, as oppose to the tv presenter that McDowell played.

My attitude on remakes is that if they're done well, they're perfectly legitimate; Dawn of the Dead and Ocean's 11 are two recent ones that spring to mind. The original Fright Night was a fun movie but hardly a classic, so I don't think anyone will complain about their childhood being raped. Plus this is shaping up to be a good cast - DT, Colin Farrell and a role for the original villain, Chris Sarandon.

Good also to see Tennant landing a relatively high profile gig, of course.

They're trying to put us girls into a coma. Yelchin, Farrell, AND Tennant all in one movie? *faints*

Had to do a Google. Thank god, I thought you meant WILL Ferrell. *whew*

^Now THAT would've been frightening!

Hmmm. If David Tennant is in it, I might just have to see this when it comes out.

Now this is a big role for him.

I just had an idea for another movie. Scifi actors who are thrust into a real life alien invasion.

John De Lancie- WHAT DO WE DO?!

Patrick Stewart- I thought you had all the answers! You were Q!

I hadn't really thought about it before, but I actually see the similarity between him and Roddy McDowell. It's a wise casting choice, except that he's a bit too young for the part.
