Hi all, long time lurker who finally decided to join up and get involved. Really excited for the upcoming Picard and thought I'd jump in to the forum scene. Big fan of Star Trek in general since I was a kid with my fav series being TNG. Look forward to joining in the discussions. :D

Welcome aboard! I

I’ll admit to being iffy about the new Picard series, but I’ve got high hopes!!

I'll admit I'm the same, I'm trying not to hype myself up too much at this early stage but the thought of seeing Patrick Stewart playing Picard again I just can't help it.

I'm the same. On one hand I'm excited for more Jean-Luc Picard, but at the same time I'm worried that, with it being almost 20 years since we last saw the character, we might not like who he's become. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's not who he's become, rather who the writers and directors make him. Anything done well will always be good. I look forward with an open mind.

This is my first time back in nine years. I like the "new" look. It's nice to see that it's still active, too. Three guesses of my favorite Trek, and the first two don't count. Beyond that, I like TOS, TNG, and then VOY. I have not watched past the 6th season of VOY or anything that came after beyond movies. Dad introduced me to Trek through TOS, one of the few things we had in common. That was all we had to choose from back then, TOS or nuthin'. I avidly watched TNG when it came out, all the way through, and tried to avidly watch DS9 when it came out all the way through, but thanks to network wonky scheduling, sometimes it was impossible to find. I didn't get to see the final season until it went into syndication. VOY just kinda lost me. I really wanted to like it more. I don't get offended that people like something I don't or vice versa. So if you want to share your opinions with me, please do. Nice to be back.

Streaming has been such a game changer for things like that. I think at some point I'll finish out VOY. I'm a lot older than when it aired. Maybe my perspective will be different now.
I'm 20 years older now than I was when it first came on, and my opinion of the show has definitely changed. Back then I thought it was just an okay show. Now I understand it more.
Streaming as been amazing! On the plus side, I've been able to catch up on shows I missed, like the first few seasons of Supernatural. Though my goal is to still buy all the Treks on DVD/Blu Ray.

Same. I'm not in a huge hurry, but it is something I'd like. Atm, all I have is DS9.

I do feel like my appreciation of DS9 has deepened with age, as well as with changes in society making it feel more relevant today than less. Supernatural was one of the first shows I binged on Netflix, although I'm not through all of the seasons yet. I lost interest around season 8. Not sure if it was just burnout from watching it a lot or something not clicking with me in the season. I'm sure I'll get back to it.

DS9 has always been my favorite post TOS Trek. I think it's because it was more "real" as far as the characters were, IMO, if that makes sense. I need to redo a re-watch. Maybe after I'm finished with Enterprise.
