Hi Count Zero, I think Trek doesn't nearly have the following here like it has in the states or in Germany, most fans here are pretty casual and it doesn't go much beyond buying dvd's. I think the new movie introduced a lot of younger fans to it, and they are getting into the series now. My brother being one of them, he is turning into a hard core TOS fan.
So I'm guessing your OS is Ubuntu?

I also think it's a fun movie, I can appreciate the fact that some fans don't like it, there are a few elements that I don't like either, but overall I think it serves as a good introduction to Trek, especially for a younger crowd.

My brother is one of those new ST fans. He has converted from teasing me (since childhood) to watching the new movie with me. He even has it on Blu-Ray for his kick-butt home theater. To my surprise, he even asked me the name of the series he watches, so he can buy it on DVD... it's ENT! ["The one where they wear NASA uniforms."]

Hi all. I have been a casual poster for a month or two, and came here from Trek Web where I was a lurker for several years.

My name is Brad. I am 31 and live in southcentral WI. I have been a Star Trek fan since the age of 4 (my mom used to watch TOS reruns in syndication with me) and I watched TNG, DSN, VGR, and ENT on first run. I'm that hopeless guy who has all the dvds/blurays, and will just pop one in to have something in the background while I am puttering around the house.

I love all of the incarnations of Star Trek. It's probably sad how many times I have seen every episode. Except "Threshold". That ep makes me soul sad. ;-)

I am also a fan of sci fi in general. Some of my favorite series are Battlestar (as evidenced by my handle), Babylon 5, Firefly, Farscape, Heroes, Stargate (even Universe), and my new favorite Warehouse 13.

What led me to move from lurker status to poster was my interest in the recent TrekLit. I have been loving the recent novels series, including the relaunches of TNG, DSN, VGR, and the Titan and Vanguard series. And one of the aspects that attracts me, besides being my favorite sci fi vehicle, has been the inclusion of gay and lesbian characters into the Trek universe. That was one aspect that I always missed in Trek. Although DSN, which was my favorite Trek, did include some nods to this in it's final season. I read trek just about every chance I get. I have read all of the relaunch novels. Destiny and Typhon Pact may be my new favorite novel series. I love Star Trek in its darker incarnations. Section 31, the Dominon War, and Janeway on her warpath were some of my favorite plot devices.

I look forward to getting to know more like minded individuals on this board and having some great nerd-centric conversations on here.

Welcome up, The Caprican!

I love all of the incarnations of Star Trek. It's probably sad how many times I have seen every episode.

I don't think that can ever be considered sad. You could do a lot worse than being a serial Trek watcher.:bolian:

now to find a place to discuss Trek ships vs B5 ships and i'll be on my way lol

M

i just put it in the sci-fi forum... that way i can derail the thread to other tech problems in the B5 universe, like Warp in Hyperspace for example lol

Hi

I dont know if this is the right play to introduce myself but I just wanted to say hi. I recently discovered my love of star trek via the internet. I am a huuuge fan of The original star trek and I really liked the new movie and hope they make more.
