Hi everyone, I am 34 and grew up watching tos and all the series of the 90s (the only good parts of my childhood :). I am a always rewatching one series or another. I moved to a new country in the pandemic and haven't really managed to connect with anyone in real life so, I thought I'd give this a try. I love sci-fi and just hoping to make new online friends here. I love endlessly discussing trek, what can I say?

Hey all. I'm closing very quickly on 60 y.o. and started watching TOS in the 70s, been a fan ever since. I love all iterations of Trek (I take IDIC seriously). Hoping to connect with fellow fans and discuss what is clearly a golden age of Trek right now.

Yup. Some discussions never get old, and Trek is one of my favorite topics. Glad you're here!

    Long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

I really enjoy the conversations that occur here, and I felt like signing up and making an account so I could participate.

My favorite Treks are TNG and DS9, but I really like SNW. Unfortunately DIS doesn't do it for me and I find it unwatchable, but if other people like it, then bully for them.

A final parting shot: Janeway left a trail of chaos in her wake. I was a Delta Quadrant resident, I'd be angry at her for her rampage.*ducks*

 @ the Janeway comment Zapp.

I love that, while you don't care for Disco, you're cool with others enjoying it. I see too many gatekeepers on twitter and elsewhere pontificate on what is "true Trek". If you like it all Trek, cool. If you like most, or some, or just a little, cool. You're a fan and we can find common ground.

Watching and talking about something I hate sounds exhausting. Don't like a show? Don't watch it! There's plenty of Trek out there for almost every taste, and that's great. As they say, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations.

    Hello everybody,
    I'm a 54 french trekkie, new to this forum. I'm a TOS / TNG / DS9 fan a bit less VOY fan.
My favourite show is ENT (i'm probably the only one ^⁾). I really love the art direction and look of the show.

    :)

    Hello fellow Trekkies,

I may be new to the forum, but I'm not new to Star Trek, since I grew up on The Next Generation and Voyager. I'm also a Star Wars fan, so the way this forum is set up is familiar to me (the forums on The Force.net are set up in a similar fashion). You'll know me as Force of Light on that particular forum (for those of you that are a fan of both franchises and have an account over there as well). Since I didn't keep anything the last time I was into Star Trek (which was around the time TNG ended and Voyager began), I have to start my collection all over again (though it was much easier back then, since I didn't have about ten different fandoms that I was into at the same time).

I'm now re-watching both series on Netflix (nobody uses my account but me, so I have no intention of deleting it. I originally signed up for it to watch the Jurassic World series called Camp Cretaceous, and even though I own the first three seasons on DVD, I still have to re-watch the remaining two as well as the interactive one on Netflix, so that's another reason to keep it). See, I told you I have multiple fandoms!

    Hello everybody,
I was born in 1964 and my dad was a huge TOS fan, so I got started early. I can remember watching from a very early age, 5 or 6ish. My favorite episodes were and still are, Devil in the Dark, Balance of Terror, Galileo 7 and Arena. I stayed with it through TNG, Enterprise and all of the movies. Never really warmed up to DS9 and Voyager. As for the new stuff. I like SNWs but I'm on the fence with Picard & Discovery. Still in therapy over the Kelvin timeline, but at least I don't wake up screaming anymore.

So why am I here?? I've read the vast majority of TOS & TNG novels out there and I've done onesy-twosies of the spin off stuff. I've always been super strict about reading and series in order, but since I haven't been reading that much ST in general the novel-verse has gotten way out of hand. Given my educational background, I'm a systems design/process nerd to the extreme (just how much is a complete other discussion :-) ) so my brain has started to grind on the development of a Star Trek Universe timeline flow diagram based on the canon novel-verse, to include movies.

I'm still way early (day 3) in my fact/resource search. I've found several diagrams out there on the interwebs, but nothing that really answers the mail for me. Most (from what I've seen so far) are vague generalities.

Because of my familiarity with TOS, TNG & Enterprise, my intent is to start with that basic timeline. Once I have a solid foundation I will build out with the "spin-offs". I will also depict what I would refer to as loopbacks or interdependencies between storylines.

This will be years worth of work, but I think it will be fun.

Thanks for letting me join the group. I think it will go a long way in filling my knowledge gaps and I can't wait to engage in the forums.

Welcome to @BandoOfBorg, @MikeRodd75, @Zapp Brannigan, @Stargazer_101 and @Steve Ogle - this forum is a great forum. Been here over 20 years now.

Decided on reading this thread, but then decided on skipping around 100 pages. Any-ways, as I've never posted in this thread. I'm from Melbourne, Australia. Been a fan of Star Trek for over 30 years now. Also, a fan of most science fiction series. I pretty much like all Star Trek, but I'm a niner/tnger at heart.

Hi surrogatejoe. Im also a newbie. A humble cadet in such prestigious company of high ranking officers.
This is also my first post and I also live in the Uk where the weather's crap and im guessing you like sci fi so we have lots in common. Anyway you know what they say " if you catch a weasel asleep pee in its ear" thats not right but its one of my favourites but you should use p##s instead of pee , dont know why but its funnier no i was thinking "two heads are better than one" unless you say that to a siamese twin . Im not sure if that would be funny or offensive ?
You can see my problem i also babble on a bit so perhaps we could follow tom and harry and watch each others back for a while .( voyager season 1 episode 1 )
At least til we 're promoted . Not that i'm bothered too much about rank . Just as long as i get a big comfy chair on the bridge and everyone calls me sir i dont care.

Don't get too comfy in the big chair; once you're Captain, before you know it, you've been promoted to Commodore then Admiral. Then its endless desk assignments. :brickwall: At least they still call you sir. :rommie:

Seriously, great to have you aboard. This is the best Star Trek chat site on the internet.

Hello, I created this account awhile ago but life kept me busy. I decided to give it another shot as I like to talk about Trek but I worry about bothering people about it.

I started as a Data fan and Trek fell by the wayside to superheroes. Nemesis was actually what got me back into it in my teens. From there, I've slowly check out many of the shows, movies, and tie-ins.

I've become fond of this franchise/fandom. I even like the Trek that isn't for me and the badly written ones. As it all has value in bringing joy to others, learning opportunities, good bad entertainment, etc.

When life throws me off, Trek helps me feel connected. It helps me understand myself and other perspectives. Bones, Data, Seven, Barclay, T'Pol, Shran, Boilmer are some of my favorite characters. Not only are they cool, I value them as they helped me understand my neurodivergent side.

I went to my first Trek convention in Chicago last year. I was struggling to fully enjoy it as my social anxiety kept me trapped within myself. But seeing one of my favorite YouTubers Jessie Gender, sparked something in me. I timidly went up to thank them for their content and asked for a selfie. That positive experience helped me crept out of my comfort zone. I got bold to chat with Prodigy's Aaron Waltke and fistbump Discovery's David Ajala despite his intimidating football-ninja of a bodyguard.

This year I'll be attending the one in Las Vegas. So at some point, I'll be asking for help navigating the con and meeting the actors. I've reserved my first time photo ops with Brent, Robert Picardo, and Jeri. So I've been overthinking a quick 2-3 sentence of what to say to them

I also plan on cosplaying (first time as well) at Vegas but I'm having trouble deciding. Frankly, just nervous about that as well which makes it difficult lol

Anyways sorry for the essay, I appreciate whoever read whatever they could of this post

    Jolan tru

Edit - I forgot to proofread, d'oh! I typed faster than my brain and I stink at language arts. So you'll probably see me edit a bit

Thanks Henoch. You either get startrek or you dont .And in my circle trekkies are thin on the ground, well none existant is more accurate , which wasnt really a problem before but my circumstances have changed over the past few years and an unfortunate side effect is insomnia.
And so ive been trying to remember why your name was familiar .finally got it . And im feeling so pleased that I didnt have to google it im going to watch the episode. It was great to see him play the baddie for once even in the alternate universe he was still very much the same apart from the evil beard .
(If id read the quote at the end I would have got the name hours ago. )
Anyway just wanted to say thanks for the message.

Hi , I know it's late but I've been pondering on the latest star trek related 'dumbest, What was I thinking ' moment.
Yesterday I accepted a wager that I'm probably going to lose along with a crisp £50 note at midnight tomorrow. I have to somehow slip into a conversation :-
" My friend is obviously Chinese. You've probably noticed the ears. He fell into a mechanical rice picker" .
From City on the edge when Kirk is explaining Spocks appearance to a police man in the past.
I'm planning to take my dog with me but it's not going to be easy not to sound bonkers.
If there's anyone who wants to fess up to a funny, idiotic or embarrassing star trek moment I'd love to hear from you, might even take my mind off my problem.

I merged your thread with the existing introductions thread, not realizing you had already posted here several times.

    Please don’t start duplicate threads.

    Thanks!

Howdy! I'm a pretty young fan, been into trek for as long as I can remember but have been getting back into it recently after a somewhat long leave of absence. I generally just lurk but love discussing the franchise with people. I'm particularly into TOS and DS9 at the moment, but I adore just about every series. I'm an avid reader of the novels, despite their often somewhat low quality... part of my interest in joining this forum was to possibly review them. Thanks for reading, I hope to be able to communicate with some of you in the future and not be too shy :-]
