Weird TOS covors

I remember John Ordover once saying that people complained about the TNG novel "Blaze of Glory" saying that Pocket had put the wrong Enterprise (pre-fit Constitution class) on the cover.

The ENT jumpsuits were inarguably the best because that's what our astronauts (on some kind of star trek) wear today for the most part and that was set 150 years from now. Why did Starfleet change uniforms seemingly every decade for the following two hundred years??

Like people have said, it's actually not all that unrealistic to have regular changes in uniform design. The air force, for example, has changed at an even faster rate over the last 60 years, honestly. Check this out to see, they've had a great deal of uniform evolution over time.

Well, a lot of the uniforms on that PDF are different variants in use at the same time. There were only a few distinct eras of uniform design represented, it seemed.

True enough, I suppose it's a little unfair of a comparison. I guess I was considering them as distinct since it wasn't entirely split up into eras but rather that there was a lot of overlap amongst versions, but that's a fair point.

Trek uniforms were pretty stable through the 24th. the maroon jackets lasted from the 2280s up to the 2340s, then came the TNG style, which were slightly modified, and they lasted 30-some years before the black'n'greys came in.
It's always possible the maroon jackets went out after STVI and then came back again briefly in the Ent-C/Cadet Picard/Jack Crusher era. I was watching "Endgame" yesterday and was suprised to see the EMH of 2403 in what looked like a really bad replica of Captain Robau's uniform from 2233. Styles come and go.

Also, FASA postulated a few fairly cool pre-TNG uniform designs in their infamous TNG Officer's Manual.
