Spoilers Wednesday (Addams) Netflix Show

I'm only through episode 3, but so far I'm liking this season much better than the first, which I thought was conceptually weak and poorly thought out. It's definitely a wise choice to give the whole Addams Family (well, except Fester and Grandmama so far) a more central role, since the Morticia-Wednesday tension is a lot more interesting than the generic school-for-superpowered-kids stuff in season 1. I wasn't sold on Guzman and Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia in the first season, but they've won me over. And I love the range of different stylishly funereal outfits they've given Morticia.

Incidentally, finally resubscribing to Netflix after all this time means I finally get to use the bespoke Netflix button on my smart TV remote! Whee! The others are for Prime, DirecTV, and Peacock, only the first of which I subscribe to. I wish they were programmable, but then the labels on the buttons would just have to be numbers or something and you'd need to remember what they were for. (Or they'd need to advance the technology to the point that the labels on the buttons could change.)

Jenna Ortega said she wouldn't get plastic surgery. She said she wanted to see how she aged. But Hollywood producers would probably force her to.

IMO they've turned into the weakest part of the show. The wicked humor and outsized personalities we've come to expect from them are all but gone. Morticia is written as a dour, even overly sensitive, helicopter parent and Gomez is basically a typical clueless and ineffectual sitcom dad. Which is a shame because Zeta-Jones and Guzman are both capable of giving us Addamses with more zest. I realize whose show it is but they don't need to tear down Morticia and Gomez simply to build up Wednesday.

The first half of season 2 had me feeling the same way the first half of season 1 did: Ortega and Myers are great as their character and any scene with them together is a delight, but everything else is pretty dull and poorly thought out. It did improve a bit in the second half (as season 1 did, so I guess I have to remember that in three years when season 3 comes out): Gwendoline Christie was a lot of fun and a welcome return. The guy playing the zombie brother did a good job. Episode 6 was probably the single best episode of the show and made me think they should do more standalone type stories like that. There was a dance scene in episode 7 and that's what the people want. Ortega and Myers continue to be great and Agnes' actress did well too.

I do agree that Morticia and Gomez are pretty dull and the total lack of horniness between them in a crime. Pugsley's actor is awfu, I know he's young but sorry he's bad. Steve Buscemi's character was a bit of a dud and a waste of a great actor. Billie Piper got so little to do that when she showed up again in the finale I just thought "oh yeah, BIllie PIper's in this show."

Were there any scenes all season of Wednesday and Enid in class?
