I don't know whether this belongs to MISC or GTVM; Mods, feel free to move as needed.

I recently bought a Microsoft webcam. The last time I used one was almost ten years ago, and back then they had crappy video quality and I didn't have high-speed Internet connection.

Can anyone recommend a good webcam chat community? I'm not necessarily talking about "adult" sites, just general interest chat. I'm more interested in live on-line, multi-user broadcast than in regular chatrooms where people basically chat back and forth via text. I've also tried WooMe.com, but that place has a lot of private sessions going on, and they're mostly young people in their 20s.

Perhaps there's a place for BBS members? I signed up for a Skype account, but that's more for one-on-one chat and messaging. Thanks for your input.

I have a question that's not related to this topic at all ...so I thought I'd ask it here. =)

Is there any way to print out my favorites list? I need to make sure I give this computer a deep enema to erase my various shenanigans. I've deleted everything manually that I can...isn't there hidden shit though? Any advise would be appreciated.

I have very few contacts on-line. Plus, I already keep in touch with some of them IRL and the others via a certain forum (though it would be nice to see fellow BBSers). So I was wondering if I there was a "live-feed" or broadcast community where I could connect with certain people. Years ago, they used to have "membership" communities that were based on and hosted by the webcam manufacturers. I don't care much for chatrooms because people still chat in text (that's sooooo 1990s). I guess what I'm looking for is a "webpage" that I can customize and link my webcam.

YouTube would be use kind of useful, I suppose, if I pre-recorded some of my videos, which isn't really my thing ... unless you want to hear me sing karaoke style.

That makes sense as webcams used to have a gee wiz factor that's now gone. I have one myself and I almost never use it. Online IM/chat isn't much of an event anymore. I suspect people are too busy looking at facebook or something else on the web to be looking at you looking at your computer screen.

Mr. B, I agree. In the era of YouTube and Myspace, people would rather do something other than I'M one another. It's unfortunate the functionality of webcams has been reduced to mere voyeurism and peep shows, or dating site tools, and adult entertainment. So who wants to join me?

The only people I chat to on webcam, is generally family members (via Skype).

SinglePurpose, thanks for your suggestions. Of the three, I think Justin.TV is the best, and that's what I chose. The two other sites have a lot of pre-recorded videos being streamed by members, while Justin.TV actually has live videos of people chatting and broadcasting themselves.

Advise about getting rid of hidden shit on computers would depend on whether or not you want to use the computer afterwards...*strokes big bag of magnets*

As for printing off favourites, nothing on my work net access would suggest anything, but I'll have a gander on my home one. If anything I would have thought that when you sign into the internet with the same user profile (say through BT for example), your favourites might be replicated there, but that may of been a one off many years ago when that happened to me.

Do you mean your bookmarks? If so, then yes, you can export them to a text file, which you can print, I guess, though I would just dump it off to a thumb drive so you don't have to type out all the URLs again. How you go about exporting it depends on the browser.

Go into your bookmarks/favourites menu, then see if you can find something like "organise your bookmarks/favourites" and in there find the "export" setting -whatever browser you use it shouldn't be so hard to do this...

This computer is from like 2000... I tried to export it to the desktop...I don't see it there. I need my own personal computer nerd stored under my desk....that would also give me a good reason to wear skirts again. LOL

Go to 'My Computer' and see if there's an openable option called 'Desktop', it might be there, or it's a shortcut on the background.

Isn't there a "Favorites" folder on your C: drive somewhere? You could do a screen capture, paste it onto a Word document or a photo template, and then print.

That almost worked...I checked every folder on C -- no favorites. Is it possible I deleted it during my mad delete streak yesterday? I'm ready to abandon this...so let's go back to talking about you at the adult swingers site...so how'd it go...how'd it go???
