We needed more Tholians in Enterprise

Last night I watched "Future Tense" and while the episode is kind of meaningless in the long run, there was something I really liked about it. I loved seeing the Tholian ships in action, especially in the 2002 quality of production and special effects. The last time we saw them was the 60s and while it wasn't too bad, I never realized how awesome those small little ships were. I was also reminded of In A Mirror Darkly where we got to see the Tholian Web in action. It's a shame this ended up being a missed opportunity, even though I had a feeling if there were a season 5, we would have seen more of these guys.

I prefer aliens like the Tholians- totally bizarre biology and their own agenda. It would have been nice to see them in later shows but the original series was somewhat unfamiliar with them- the Enterprise was acting like they had never seen the signature Web weapon before...

The time/space ship was awesome. Overall the ep is good, but they weren't able follow up that discovery with something of equal impact.

Tholians are far more interesting that the Klingons, its a shame they weren't the recurring hostile of the series.

I didn't mind their rarity. I think what we saw in In the Mirror... was as much as we should. That's just my opinion though.

I agree that they're an awesome species. I also think that shows have used too many humanoids and not enough truly alien creatures; granted, CGI has only really been around cheap and good enough during the ENT run to make realistic looking aliens.

My problem with the usage of 23rd century aliens in ENT was that, except for the Orions, Andorians and Tellarites (OK, admittedly the Tellarites were not just fleshed out a little bit more than in Journey to Babel), the show did not actually add anything but stayed in homage mode.
Admittedly this might have been different if the Tholians had returned but somehow I feel that there is only so much you can do with them. They might rather belong to the category of 'one-shot surprise' aliens than to #explore in depth' aliens.
