We need more anthologies!

^ They sort of already did that, with Mere Anarchy. All of those eras except the pre-Kirk ones, anyway.

Yeah, I know, but we need even more.

The time of Surak, and his emerging discipline of logic. This should also explain how the anti-Surak faction left Vulcan and became the Romulans. This has been hinted at now and then in various novels, but to my knowledge there has not been an entire novel dealing with it.
I suggest reading Diane Duane's excellent The Romulan Way, which is now collected in the omnibus The Bloodwing Voyages.

Also the Vulcan's Soul trilogy told this story pretty in depth, didn't it?

There may be fewer anthologies, but we can dream.... For example, I'd love to write for one...

Aw, heck, Lorraine. You and I can each write our own complete anthologies. We just have to come up with 12-15 pseudonyms apiece!

Hmmm... pseudonyms. How about um.... "Peter David", "Keith RA DeCandido", "Dayton Ward"...:p Work for you? :guffaw:

How did you know that those are my -- er ... nothing. Never mind.

I'd like to see a Tales of Section 31 anthology. It could cover the time from their creation up until the were exposed in the 25th century. We could see how they went from being the (seemingly) noble protectors of Earth to becoming the morally lacking rogue agency they later became. I'd also like to see a Guinan anthology.

I'd like to see a Section 31 anthology ever since ds9 Abyss came out. I've wanted to see the history of section 31 unfold.

I'd love to see those too.

I'd love for Section 31 to actually not exist, or just be the creation of one really zealous guy and some androids.

It was also Abyss that made me want such an anthology.

I'm with you all on this! :) The only problem would be that we don't want every major event to have had active Section 31 interference, which would be the temptation. Watching and waiting and planning, plus the odd "quiet" action is what they do most; incidents like New Beijing and Sindorin in "Abyss" are probably rare. We wouldn't want Section 31 to come across as too prominent within the Trek universe. If pulled off properly, though, this anthology would be great!

Agreed. The larger and more active a conspiracy, the more implausible it is that it can remain secret. The concept of Section 31 only makes sense if they haven't been particulaly active as a rule. I tend to assume that they were a limited, largely passive operation prior to the Dominion War, at which point they ramped up their activities.

But I'd be happiest if there were one and only one more story about Section 31, namely the one showing their downfall.

Allyn Gibson;3376328A better idea for a Temporal Cold War anthology -- Don't make it [B said:
Enterprise[/B] specific. When you're dealing with a war in time, the battlefields can be anywhen. There could be stories that involve Flint in ancient Earth history, Gary Seven during the 1960s, Zefram Cochrane, and all the way onward to Nemesis and beyond. I'd want to explore the different fronts in the war. Maybe the actors wouldn't realize they were part of a larger drama. It could be quite interesting. And who do I have to pitch this idea to... :)

I agree - this could be extremely interesting and allow for combinations that one wouldn't otherwise see. Exploring the reactions of the parties to each other in an anywhen scenario could be fun!
