The conspiracy theories are hilarious. A cursory look around these parts say that about 40% of the people like the DCEU. Which, coincidentally matches the Rotten Tomatoes score which tracks number of critics who like/dislike something.
Unless you think posters here are paid off too (which I hope ya'll do, cuz that's hilarious) there is no reason to even vaguely suspect a conspiracy...

People like different things, even if they are flawed. I like Alien 3.

I recently bought a new car and it turned out the salesman was also a bit of a genre fan. We were chatting away about various films (we got started on the MCU because of its use of Audi cars), generally in agreement & then he piped up “but Batman v Superman was the worst film I’ve ever seen.”

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I like it as well—primarily because a Fincher film, even when outrageously meddled with, is more interesting than most people’s cinematic work.
Because the Assembly Cut of Alien3 is the second-best movie of that entire series by a country mile.
Now having gotten to see the film, every single "flaw" I've seen held against it online, either by fans or "professional critics", exists in the MCU, especially in the first two Avengers films and Civil War, and yet, invariably, was heralded as being a 'strength' there and a 'weakness' in JL.
I'm not going to go so far as to say that we're dealing with corporate strongarm tactics being employed in the interest of "sabotaging" the DCEU by giving its films bad reviews, but there is a demonstrable double standard in play here.

Alien 3? You poor, poor Possum.
Again, just look around these parts. More people dislike these movies than people who like them. That's the explanation - people just don't like these movies. You can't apply scientific analysis to this. There are too many intangibles.
If you're into arthouse movies I guess...
Yeah, like how Avengers has a Ben Affleck with zero sense of comic timing in their franchise that people ignore. And how they ignore the CGI to create an uninteresting Loki matches that of Steppenwolf. And the mismatch of styles by the 2 different directors on and writers on Avengers definitely sticks out as well. Not to mention the editing.
I wonder of DC is paying people to infiltrate message boards and praise theor movies? It's just as possible as the conspiracy saying it's the other way around. I mean, they already had rotten tomatoes hold off on their rating until the last possible second (studios with good movies generally don't want to hide that from the public) so why not?
And yet the things that are cited as reasons for disliking the DCEU films are cited as reasons for liking their MCU counterparts... hence the double standard.
Not a double-standard. Marvel movies strike a consistent tone and know exactly what they want to be.
DC movies are a mess of inconsistent tones and half-baked ideas and audiences notice.
I’m a David Fincher fan and enjoy the dark tone. It’s extremely flawed though. The Assemby Cut almost makes it work but still has issues. But Fincher’s talent manages to shine though the issues he encountered during the filming due to the studio.
Stop looking at only the superficial elements, even a shot for shot remake like Psycho is vastly worse than the original despite having the same elements on the surface that people liked about the original.

I never said theres an anti-DCEU conspiracy afoot; I said there's a double standard in play, and there is.
You can choose to ignore said double standard if you wish, but it does exist, and it exists because there are basic conceptual and executional elements that exist in both franchises but are not being weighed or judged equally.
Agreed. And plus I just really love the score and how incredibly atmospheric it is. And the characters are far more memorable than those from any of the later movies.
People in this thread have certainly found a consistent tone... whining.
