"Waterworld: 2 Disc Extended Edition" out on DVD on 11/04/2008

Here's hoping that this pushes Costner to release the long demanded extended edition of The Postman (possibly in 3D). Its the cut that includes all the meaningless stuff that was left on the cutting room floor like a coherent plot.

Bestbuy could even do a Kevin Costner two pack of Waterworld and The Postman. Two really long dull crappy movies for one low price.

The only cut I've seen of Alexander is the first DVD release, labeled the "Director's Cut", and it made me beg the gods for the sweet relief of death.

Does "the Final Cut" genuinely improve the film?

The director's cut is actually shorter than the theatrical cut, and then the final cut is longer than the theaterical cut.

Revenge is the only other director's cut that I know is shorter.

The "director's cut" of Alien is shorter. And while the Director's Cut of Daredevil is about 30 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, there are scenes that are in the Theatrical Cut that were cut out of the Director's Cut.

Frankly, Dr. Noah's plan to flood the Earth in "Our Man Bashir" was more plausible than this.

...remind me?

I think he used bombs to cause massive seismic activity which caused the land masses to sink....or some such nonsense.

Close. He didn't use bombs. He used lasers to drill through the Earth's crust to release tons & tons of magma to the surface, causing the tectonic plates to settle & Earth's crust to shrink.

Yes, Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut is the best version of Alexander and greatly improves the narrative flow of the film.

One word of caution: If you never enjoyed Colin Farrell's performance as Alexander, you still won't enjoy his performance in The Final Cut, which is a very good film, but some of the casting choices are still questionable.

I dunno, WW was ok if you dial down your expectations, and if I was ever going to own a yacht, I'd get the company who built the one for the movies to build something pretty similar. It was obviously a Mad Max ripoff, the original writers said so, it just got inflated way beyond expectation.
