Yet, the 2009 date was correct in the dialogue.

Here's hoping this year's Christmas special dispenses with the one year out nonsense.
I hope so to, hopefully Moff will draw a line under all of this.
He may not have to; I suspect that RTD is going to press a giant reset button at the end of "The End of Time," and much of the last five years of Who will be wiped away.
there is that theory, have to wait & see if that does happen.

Then when the wife shows up, he won't know that she's already dead?

That's just terrible, the egg timer on their relationship is awesome.

its possible the Doctor will remeber the events but not anyone else

that itself presents a few problems

1) Torchwood, the earth does need defending, and Torchwood needs to be able to remeber what its doine over the years, despite its passion for wiping peoples memory's.

2) Sarah Jane, same problem

3) UNIT, same problem, but without a UNIT spin-off its less of an issue.

I don't quite know what to do about The Seeds of Doom. That story was set at some point in the 21st century when conventional space travel had been replaced by the T-Mat teleport system, and the Ice Warriors still inhabited Mars.

The Seeds of Death. Easy mistake to make though, I do it all the time.

Yeaaaah all that is rubbish considering the audio snippet of the 11th doctor

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLCUrrAoZag

Well it sounds like Smith to me, and that's a far better audio than I'd heard before, and I'm even more convinced that it's not a curious speech affectation, it's just the triumph of the Doctor remembering who the hell they are. I suspect it's going to be quite soon after the regen...actually what a cool idea, the Doctor not realising what they are!

Another bit of evidence to suggest the last five years aren't being wiped is of course...

The return of
River Song

I do think RTD is going to put some toys back in the box for Moffat though, as evidenced by the return of the Cyberman in The Next Doctor which suggests both they and the Daleks can/have escape/d the void.

Won't surprise me if the Timelords are put back in the box as well...

Here's something from the website no one's mentioned yet:

The finale to the Tenth Doctor's era is one of the most eagerly anticipated adventures in the history of Doctor Who and you can see a dramatic scene from the story on Friday, BBC One during Children in Need.
In The Waters of Mars we saw the Doctor recall Carmen's prophesy that his song would soon be ending, and at the close of the episode he encountered Ood Sigma and the TARDIS cloister bell tolled... all ominous portents for the Doctor.
But one big question remains...
What happens next?
If you want to find out, make sure you're watching Children in Need on Friday, 20th November on BBC One. The scene will not be online, so if you want to plunge into the Tenth Doctor's dramatic finale, remember to watch Children in Need on BBC One, Friday night!

So they are doing something for CiN. Thought this wasn't the case.

Any thoughts or further info?

I'm guessing the best way for the suicide to play would either be survivor guilt at losing her crew (which might be understandable but isn't exactly inspiring) or else because she thought she was infected, which still seems kinda limp.

I dunno, I can see suicide to save the world as inspiring, but suicide after you've been saved from certain death...is that really going to inspire her grand daughter?

If they play it as, she thought she was infected, I think that could certainly inspire her granddaughter.

Has anyone mentioned that the robot moved through a wall of water on its way to the tardis?

Yeah that was a bit dodgy considering how much sparking it was doing earlier. That said a machine designed to operate unprotected on the surface of Mars must have all its vital bits well secured.

If however you're mentioning that from an infected water point of view then I doubt a machine could be infected (the computers didn't seem to be) and even if it had water droptlets on it those would have evaporated on its journey from Bowie Base to the TARDIS.

^ Hmm, good point. But it did go out on the surface, which may have evaporated/boiled the water off. I'm not sure what a real Martian atmosphere would do to free water (not ice).

BTW,for Aussies, I just saw a promo for WoM that said Coming Soon. So we're getting them a bit closer to toriginal air time, which is good.

it's probably just a clip. not something specially filmed like Time Crash and TARDIS cutaway.

It's scenes 4 & 5 from the Xmas Day episode, which will immediately follow the titles. Apparently the pre-title sequence is too full of setup to work as a standalone sequence.

When is the Children In Need special going to air in Britain?

The pressure on the surface of Mars is one percent of that of Earth. Since the water were probably around room temprature, they should have eveporated almost instantly.
