Water Fluoridation-Good or Bad

Either something's being going on awhile and anyone who questions it is a whacko.

Or something's being going on awhile and anyone who doesn't recognize its evils is a clueless dope.

A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.

It's actually really bad, you aren't supposed to swallow it.

Yeah, scientists found that it kills you...if you eat 50lbs of it per week.
Same thing with artificial sweeteners and other food additives. They are safe, but it's also true that they kill you in extremely high dosages. I mean like the equivalent of pounds per day over an extended time.

This is the Wikipedia article on Sodium Fluoride. The lethal dose for a 70 Kg human is 5-10 grams, at least according to the article.

Look in the Safety section of the article and click Dental Fluorosis if you want to see some nasty pictures of damaged teeth.

All that I know is that tap water tastes really bad anywhere I've tried drinking it (Florida, Ohio, Oregon). Here in Oregon it tastes kind of metallic.

Fluoridation of water really has no place in the developed world of today. I can see how it played a part in protecting teeth in people long ago, when there were no supermarkets selling fluoridated toothpaste.
However these days the toothpaste is all we need to keep teeth healthy, and the fluoride is just a chemical added to drinking water with no need for it, and that in my opinion is bad.
