was there ever any explanation on why Quantum Torps were missing...

Re: was there ever any explanation on why Quantum Torps were missing..

Not as odd as Worf being back in Starfleet for no reason, though.

You think that being a diplomat for the rest of his life really fit Worf's character? The moment in the DS9 finale when the made him an ambassador I said to myself..... he won't keep that job for very long.

...For all we know, he never got the job. Martok backed him up, but the Federation side might not have agreed to the deal after all.

It appears Worf was free of diplomatic obligations in ST:Insurrection already. Or at least everything in that movie suggests that it takes place shortly after "WYLB"...

On Enterprise-E during Nemesis? That has always bugged me that the character made so many distinctive mentions of using photon torpedoes.

We saw the Enterprise fire both red (photon) and blue (quantum) torpedoes during the space battle. IIRC, all that was said was that they'd run out of photon torpedoes, not that that's all they had or were using.

DS9's Defiant has been shown to have both, too. Photon torpedoes were fired during that Worf trial episode.

Heck, the NX-01 Enterprise's armory was seen loaded with both photon torpedoes and the older spacial missiles during the third season.

I always assumed the events in Insurrection take place at least a year before DS9's final year. Closer to the time that Jadzia died, I seem to recall a lot of fans upset that Worf didn't appear to be grieving her death all that much while he was having his "gay romp" through the briar patch.

Re: was there ever any explanation on why Quantum Torps were missing..

^Well, that's because Jadzia hadn't died yet when they wrote the movie. Once that happened, all they had time to do to acknowledge it was to remove a couple lines where Worf is congratulated on his recent marriage, which had suddenly become a little tasteless.

While Nemesis had many issues, including the writing, I'm always amused by nit-picking such a tiny things that mean nothing. Other ones for Nemesis include OMG the color of the Romulan Ale is wrong in the wedding scene!!! or OMG why is Wesley there?!?! (because as well all know, NOTHING can happen off screen) or OMG all the CGI looks like Star Wars!!!!!

The O'Briens should be there. Even Kate Pulaski could be there, as Riker's stepmom.

There's something off about the visuals. Its almost like a cheap ripoff movie that can't use the right effects due to copyright. It's the same for the sound effects too. Think of the look and sound of a Photon Torpedo. Think Of Nemesis. Not remotely the same. Would it really improve the film? Doubtful. But it would fit in a little better.

Things like that might mean nothing, but would have taken nothing to do correctly either.

We nitpick because we care. We care because we love.

I never thought of that for Nemesis, but frankly it's criminal that O'Brien was never in a TNG film :klingon:

The way Thomas yelled at him on the Defiant, do you blame the guy for not wanting to be anywhere a Riker was?

"What's that Worf? You're going to fight the Borg and meet up with the Enterprise crew? Thomas' brother is still the first officer? Yeah, I'm good. You go without me."

Re: was there ever any explanation on why Quantum Torps were missing..

That would've been nice to see Miles in a movie. I had an image of FC... The Defiant is towed back to DS9. Worf comes in... "WORF?! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DEFIANT?! Do you have any... idea... how long... it takes to fix this?"

"How come you never told me it had a blind spot? Look, I spilled beer all over me when that jerk crashed into me."

"Now, Worf, I never noticed that the ship had a blind spot..."

"And, uh, where's my reports?"

"Uh, well, I haven't finished those up yet, but you know, I figured since they weren't due till..."

"Hello? Hello? Anybody home? Think, O'Brien, think. Do you know what would happen if I transmit my reports in your isolinear signature? I'll get fired. You wouldn't want that to happen, would ya? WELL WOULD YA?"
