Was the TOS Shuttlecraft model released in 2 sizes ?

It is quite possible. Many kits were released in different box's and with different art work.

I dont think it was.The box art was different. http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/GALILEO PAGE.htm Thats about it.Polar Lights released a shuttlecraft a few years back that was different from the AMT version.

The AMT kit was one size (and totally inaccurate). Like most of the Trek kits, it was initally sold in what's referred to as a "long box" package, and later releases in a smaller box.

Yes, there was only one kit, ever, but they may have changed the box size over the years.

The box mine came in says "Galileo 7 Shuttlecraft". Which brings up the question: did the title of the episode "The Galileo Seven" refer to the shuttlecraft (NCC-1701/7), the seven crewmembers, or both?

When I built mine in (around) 1975, I "customized" the interior using the Franz Joseph blueprint as a guide. Bad move, they weren't totally accurate either.

I don't recall the kit coming in two sizes, although I admit that after I got out out of high school I stopped paying attention to such things.

^^Given that no other shuttle was ever referred to that way, and given that a later iteration of the shuttle was explicitly labelled Galileo II onscreen (in "The Way to Eden," I believe), I think it's clear that it was "The Galileo Seven," i.e. the seven who journeyed aboard the Galileo (by analogy with The Magnificent Seven or "The Chicago Seven," or "The Oceanic Six" for Lost fans), rather than "The Galileo Seven." But many people over the years have misinterpreted the "Seven" as part of the shuttle's name, and clearly the makers of your model kit (or at least its box art) made that mistake too.

EDIT: Well, given that the set and model designers did put "1701/7" on its hull, maybe the title was meant to have a double meaning of sorts. Still, we never saw or heard any other shuttle referred to in that way (aside from the Galileo II), so it would have to be at best a poetic or informal reference to the shuttle, not a proper designation for it.

Personally, I always went with the double meaning, with it leaning more toward being about the people.
