I think the idea is the fighting also makes the sexual feelings go away as well. What I always wonder is why masturbation doesn't solve half of this issue. Tuvok had the same issue on "Voyager" and they just had him basically have sex with a hologram of his wife though I don't even know if he did. The ship was in danger and he showed up on the bridge and sadi something like "The situation has resolved itself."

I was thinking that Spock was mentally connected to T'Pring in the betrothal ceremony and once that link was broken by her publicly denouncing him as her mate and fighting Kirk, the blood fever was broken! Not that it makes sense! Unless when the Enterprise was next in orbit around Vulcan he popped down for a quick one?

What I wonder is how does Pon'Far work for female Vulcans. On "Enterprise" in the mirror universe T'Pol said that Trip helped her out during her's so something doesn't make sense. Also what happens of one's mental mate dies by a accident before year 7?. What if Spock or T'Pring had died the previous year and the other didn't? Would the one who didn't die be screwed once the 7 year cycle reaches year 7?

That's it, Johnny I don't why everyone says you're dumb.* That makes sense now, it's not the body's need for sex every seven years, (which don't forget the seven years thing was Never mentioned in this episode and not until 3rd season's The Cloudminders) but the mind link as children that draws them back to Vulcan to spawn. I'm happy now.
Because, some time in the past after Surak's teaching of logic was the norm, the population of Vulcan was probably starting to decline because of lack of reproduction therefore causing them to start betrothing children to ensure that there is enough population in future generations. So it's a mental problem that causes the physical symptoms, not the other way around.
* That's an old joke from F-Troop, Cpl. Agarn would blurt out something that seemed to explain all of their current problems and Sgt. O'Rourke would say that, but Agarn really doesn't respond then but half an episode later he shouts, "Who says I'm dumb!" F-Troop is one of my favorite shows, I wasn't calling you dumb.
