Was Kirk's brother in Starfleet ?

There hasn't been indication he wasn't either. My guess is he started there, because his dad probably wanted him to, but decided it wasn't the way for him. But that's as good a guess as any since there's no cannon for or against it.

We don't really know if Daddy Kirk was pro-Starfleet or anti-Starfleet. The fact that he took his son to Tarsus IV, an apparent luddite world out of touch with the rest of the Federation, might suggest that Kirk would need to rebel against the wishes of his (late?) dad to join the Fleet. Then again, perhaps Daddy Kirk was at Tarsus as the Starfleet representative (and thus one of the first people to be eliminated by Kodos!).

This is where the next movie is likely to make a big difference: if and when we learn new facts about why James Tiberius joined the Fleet, we also get good arguments on whether George Samuel would feel like doing the same.

So, using your logic, it's safe to assume that he also had 4 testicles because "there hasn't been indication he didn't." :vulcan:

While they didn't say, I'd prefer he wasn't. It is a tedious trope of Modern Trek that everybody needs to be in Star Fleet. It's as though everybody needs to be there or be a politician/ambassador. Yet another reason I prefer the original series to modern Trek, traders, rogues, reserchers, hustlers and humanity in general. Better Kirk's brother not be just another uniform.

No, not that I've ever seen, heard or read. Sam was a civilian research scientist who ended up dying on Deneva.
