"Worse"? That's one of the very best episodes. IMHO.

But, yeah, it would be interesting to see an ep told entirely from the point of view of the Romulans or the Cardassians or whomever.

(Not sure you could pull it off with the Borg or the Changelings, though. They might be too alien to identify with.)

I think the various Damar/Weyoun scenes across the seventh season add up to at least one "The Corps Is Mother, The Corps Is Father's" worth of material. And were a highlight of the season, too.

Actually, now that I think of it, much of the power of "Balance of Terror" comes from the fact that a good half of it is told from the Romulan Commander's POV. And that was way back in TOS.

Though it was really more of a Bashir episode, I would count "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" and though it is more of a Bashir/O'Brien episode, I would also count "Extreme Measures" as the closest we got to that. Both episodes give us an insight into how Section 31 runs. To me, Section 31 is the closest we got to the Psi Corps, in terms of a body that operates outside their purview but is still protected.

Given the number of people I've seen speculate on a Section 31 series, I think it could have worked. Sloane would definitely have been a great P.O.V. in terms of someone who thinks what they are doing is the right thing and can justify any action because of the "cause."

Just like, I'd be very interested in watching a Mirror Universe Series, Where the Federation is reprehensible and going around conquering the universe (In a more serious tone of TOS Mirror Universe, not, the Cheezy comedy tone of DS9, though some of those episodes were actually fun). Might even show some of the main characters changing their moral outlook over the course of the Series and becoming good guys eventually (Which could be what leads to DS9 MU where the Federation are enslaved). But, again, the General Public wouldn't support such a show, I don't believe.

They would on cable, where it's old hat by this point. You practically gotta be Al Swearengen to get any attention nowadays. And cable is the only place where Star Trek could survive now, so yeah. Let's have a whole series from the Dominion point of view!

(Just kidding. If I were in charge, I wouldn't let the fact that Star Trek was on cable force me to turn it into Breaking Bad in Space. Sure, it would be cool to see Breaking Bad in Space, but that ain't Star Trek. There's no law that cable requires sex 'n violence 'n moral grayness. Star Trek would be a case where such things would hurt more than help, if overdone.)

I don't see anything wrong with the Star Trek universe containing recurring Federation or even Starfleet characters who are antagonistic antiheroes. I wouldn't mind story arcs in a new series in which bad guys in Starfleet were main characters, sorta like In a Mirror, Darkly punctuation marks.

Having sympathetic bad guy characters would be fine - like Shane on The Walking Dead, characters that aren't squeaky clean. But they shouldn't go for the Deadwood extreme, where the characters are almost all wretched or at best, kind of unlikable.

I really enjoyed Dollhouse (actually more than Buffy or Angel), but, unfortunately, no it didn't, we were lucky to get a Season 2 at all

I bailed after a few episodes (and then watched some later ones) but my impression was that the dolls were far more victims than anything else. Which is the main reason I bailed - who wants to watch some weepy show about poor widdle victims? I like characters who are powerful and drive the story, not get kicked around and expect us to feel sorry for them.

Yea, alot of folks bailed for that reason (And the misogyny), but, that was set up, so you could appreciate their position and later see them rising up and breaking their bonds. As a whole, even though S2 moves too quickly and you lose some nuance, I think the show works very well as a complete story. A shame people didn't understand the reason for the early episodes (Or didn't have the patience)
