Was Damar's girlfriend a Cardassian/Bajoran hybrid?

In series 7 episode 2(?) Damar is shown swilling Kanar and flirting with a woman, when he is interrupted by Weyoun. She leaves and Weyoun and Damar snipe at each other (must be love LOL). I had never noticed before this viewing how smooth her face was. She didn't have the prominent ridges that a normal Cardassian woman would have--her face was more like that of Ziyal, a Bajoran/Cardassian hybrid.
Has anyone else noticed this?

She has smoother features than often seen (she does look like she is wearing the ear pieces from the Ziyal make-up, and the forehead from Ziyal or maybe Seska) but she is definitely fully Cardassian, as she does have the blue spoon and neck scales that Ziyal lacks.

To be fair though, I don't think the blues scales have ever been stated on-screen as natural markings as opposed to a fashion choice. We only know that all adult fully-Cardassian females appear to have them.

The screencaps at TrekCore only have her profile, but they do show no Bajoran nose wrinkles. She's probably just someone without pronounced features, or there may have been some interbreeding with a non-Cardassian somewhere in her family's past.

This is yet another argument why we need DS9 in HD!

And Garak in the Way of the Warrior.
Garak's spoon is darker than usual, but not blue. It's the same shading used on the ridges running either side of his forehead. And he definitely has no blue neck scales.

It's not necessarily half or nothing. There could be a decent segment of the Cardassian population that's like 5% Bajoran or something.

Damar and Weyoun were on Cardassia when that happened. I don't think there were too many half-Bajorans on Cardassia, given the Cardassian attitude toward them.

Good point. 60 years of occupation --that's enough for at least 2 generations. Plenty of time for there to be some part Cardassians who can "pass ".

And we don't know when first contact actually was between Cardassia and Bajor, we just know when Cardassia invaded.

For all we know they were trading partners for a hundred years before.

The episode Explorers certainly hinted at that possibility.

I personally think Bajorans and Cardassians are the same species because they are able to interbreed with no medical intervention.

Same species = can interbreed w/o medical intervention AND produce viable offspring.

It doesn't count for Trek. Otherwise Humans, Klingons, and Vulcans are the same species.

In Enterprise, T'Pol and Trip would have needed help. We don't know about Klingons and humans, but Klingons and Trills definitely need help.

I guess Spock could have been conceived using help, I stand corrected. As for Klingons, K'Ehleyr needed help but her son Alexander did not.

Come to think of it, what about those Klingon/Romulan children in Birthright part II? And what about when Seska had a half-Kazon baby? That one is hard to imagine that the Kazon had the medical wherewithall to breed with an alien they have never met before.

When the galaxy was "seeded" perhaps all affected humanoid species retained enough of that original blueprint so that they could breed with other seeded species?

Alexander's conception was a surprise, but it remains possible that K'Ehleyr needed medical intervention to carry him past the first trimester, or that Alexander could not produce children himself without medical intervention.

Different species can produce offspring without medical aid, for example horses and donkeys can produce mules, but if the offspring are sterile they are still considered separate species.

But that would be a whole different deal. Needing help to keep a baby is hugely different from needing help to concieve it in the first place.

Mules (and even Hinnies) can reproduce, it's just exceedingly rare. But then, so are most of the hybrids in Trek. :)
