Was Captain Kirk bisexual?

I don't think Kirk ever had a romantic interest in Spock. A romantic interest in the Enterprise? I can see that. But Spock? No, that's brotherly love not romantic, a bond between comrades.

The closest and most recent analogy I can think of off the top of my head is Spartacus and Varro on Showtime's Spartacus: Blood and Sand, a series which I definitely recommend. There's a bond between them but nothing can replace the love they have for their wives. The only difference between those two and Kirk and Spock is that the latter two didn't have spouses.

And of course there's no evidence that Kirk is or isn't bisexual. That type of topic was taboo on television in the 1960s. Not that it's gotten much better in the time since as far as Star Trek is concerned. They hide behind Trills and the "evil" Mirror Universe. For all intents and purposes, Kirk is straight.

Tony Curtis once said that the film 'Spartacus', was about the love affair between three men - Spartacus, Antoninus and Marcus Crassus.

He didn't say that it was sexual, though, though there was a hint of it in the film.

Well, nobody knows for sure.

Maybe we should ask Bill shatner and Leonard Nimoy if they have ever had a 'frenchie'!!

:guffaw::guffaw:

Just because we only saw Kirk with women doesn't mean that's all he ever hooked up with. And really, what percentage of Kirk's adult life was ever committed to film in any case? Plenty of time for him to have hooked up with guys on the side.

The same can be said for Spock, Scotty, McCoy, Chekov, Picard, Riker, Data, Geordi, Wesley, Barkley (his holodeck fantasies), Ben Sisko, Jake Sisko, Odo, O'Brien, Bashir, Chakotay, Paris, Kim, Neelix, Tuvok, The Doctor, Archer, Tucker, Phlox.

All have been seen on screen in some sort of romantic activity with a female.

In fact, the only characters I can think of that has shown any kind of bisexual attitude are Jadzia and mirror universe Ezri. Jadzia because of her previous relationship with another Trill and they both just happened to be in female hosts so there may be more than just bisexuality going there. 'Slug-love' may just take over regardless of who the host is.

Based on this thread being 6 pages long, clearly not...even if we take out your frequent repeating of the same statement.

This is strictly a Holodeck fantasy "slash" type of question. Its never been an issue in Shatnerverse novels or any other story I've read or watched regarding the two (Spock / Kirk). IMHO, it was a brotherhood thing.

Wrong. It was hinted at in the TMP novelisation, written by Gene roddenberry.

FWIW, in all of my comments I've been referring to Kirk being bisexual in general, not...er...Spocksexual. That one I can't see, though I'll acknowledge it's possible, however improbable.

I think it will only remain hinted at, only that. It will be a private matter between Kirk and Spock. We will never see them in the Jacuzzi together!

:wtf::eek::wtf::eek:

I tell you one thing that gives a big hint that Kirk was bisexual:

The Corbomite Maneuver. Kirk is on his back, legs in the air, saying to McCoy:

'You're killing me!!'

There's something funny going on there.

:shifty::shifty::eek::wtf:;);):rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think the word I'm looking for, is 'homo-eroticism'. There's a bit of it in ST. Kirk is seen without his shirt, McCoy and Spock wear eye-shadow.

Can anyone else think of any other imagery or allusion?

How is that specifically homo-erotic? :confused: Women don't like to see a man without his shirt? :wtf:

I've heard of quite famous homosexual singers in the UK who found those scenes a turn on.

I see how people interpret Jim/Spock from watching the show. Sexuality wise, it's hard to say in a far distant future what the possibilities could be. I have a personal headcanon that in ST humanity has lost all sense of individual categories. Everyone's just on this bisexual spectrum and there's no reason to assume anyone couldn't form a sexual or romantic bond with anyone else. So yeah I guess I do think Kirk is bi.
