Was Bashir guilty of sexual harassment in season 1 with Dax?

Sorry if the last women or girl you asked out turned you down.
Actually the last woman I hit on came home with me and never left, so I married her. :) Sixteen years later, we're both still happy (and still together)

Julian was young and his hormones were running the show. In a way, Dax was a "cougar". In an interview Terry Farrel actually discussed whether she thought Dax and Bashir should hook up. She joked that Dax would probably break him, after all, Dax was 300+ years old, so Jadzia would probably have a lot of knowledge (from both sides).

And saying that NOT harassing men is a sign of homophobia...!
Your post is needed on Bajor to help improve soil fertility.

I think the dude was making a sarcastic/satirical post about some of the perceptions of today, particularly in the media people. Hyperbole rather than some deeply seated belief. Still..the topic itself rides on that same idea.

Just a bit too soon after a serial rapist is set free because of a mistrial...

Incredibly too soon, as the discussion, including the recent silly business, predates the headline to which you refer...and though I, like yourself, have very little doubt as to the guilt of implied celebrity, until he is found guilty we can't really say that he is. But damnit, lets go back to Trek and Bashir and Dax.
Bashir is basically the lovestruck teenager in the dynamic. If he is sexually harassing Dax, then logically...so is the girl in Raiders of the Lost Ark blinking her eyes at Dr.Jones no?

I think equating Bashir's behavior with sexual harassment trivializes what is unfortunately still a problem for many women

Yeah Bashir was cringe-worthy at times but he had a crush, he was young and bad with women and not a perfect smooth talker with loads of experience (unlike Dax!). It does seem rather unfortunate to even equate his fumbling flirtation with harassment. It's not as if Dax couldn't have turned him down promptly if she'd wanted.

She's a few hundred years old overall, her body is about half a decade or so older than Bashir, she outranks him, and it's the 24th century with different views...as particularly highlighted by Dax...remember her hen night?
Yup, in other words.

Actually Jadzia and Bashir are about the same age, per:

ANNOTATION: (Exiting the airlock)
KIRA: Commander, if you'd like me to give them a tour of the station.
SISKO: You and Doctor Bashir go ahead. I'm afraid I have to put Lieutenant Dax to work right away.
BASHIR: (young, Middle-Eastern male) Jadzia, maybe we could get together later for dinner? Or a drink?
DAX: (a Trill female) I'd be delighted.
SISKO: He's a little young for you, isn't he?
DAX: He's twenty-seven, I'm twenty-eight.
SISKO: Three hundred twenty-eight, maybe. Did you tell him about that slug inside of you?
DAX: Yes, but Benjamin, he knows I'm a Trill. He finds it fascinating. He's never met a joined species before.
SISKO: I wonder if he'd've been as fascinated if you still looked the way you did the last time I saw you.
DAX: Perhaps not.
SISKO: This is going to take some getting used to.
DAX: Don't be ridiculous. I'm still the same old Dax. More or less.

If, however, you mean that Jadzia is a least five years more mature than Bashir in S1, then I'd agree that true when she wants it to be. I also agree that she was definately the "dominant" player in that narrative.

Ah. In my head he was younger. Academy graduation and all that lol.

Obviously, we don't know the exact details of how medical training works in Starfleet, but based on RW parallels, it's likely that Bashir spent at least 5 to 8 years at the Academy and maybe a couple of years at the Starfleet Medical Center, San Franciso or similar facilities as a house officer/resident before arriving at Deep Space Nine.

Not all students enter Starfleet at age 18 human years....e.g Leonard McCoy.
My father was a physician in the army. He went to Marquette for his BS/MS and University of Wisconsin for his MD. He even had tactical responsibilities during wartime (evacuation of civilians, but nonetheless military). He never when to "the Academy.."

Why a physician needs to go the academy is beyond me.

It's Starfleet Academy. Ex Astris Scientia...as opposed to something like West Point or Sandhurst I guess.

Your father was not a member of an intergalactic exploratory/defense force lol
