actually I was mistaken.. in the interview, he said he was 39 when he started..he turned forty that first year.. still at the time he was the youngest doctor yet..then I believe Peter Davidson was much younger.. he was 31 when he played the doctor..

Born 1951- played the doc in 1982..(he seemed much older)

but you can take his birth year, and subtract from the year he started, and that gives you his age..

too bad they didn't have a contest for just Doctor who art in general, like time lords, or villains..

No Wiki doesn't, it says he was 29 when cast. He was born in April 1951 and started on Who in 81, obviously he was cast prior to April whilst still 29.

yeah you are right, but 1951 to 1981 is 30 years..
so he was cast at 29, and played the doctor at 30.

Hmmm..

so Matt Smith is the youngest Doctor, and the 5th doctor was pretty young before that..
so I suppose it doesn't necessarily follow that an actor after Matt Smith would necessarily have to be younger, or just as Young as Matt..

given the ages of Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, and Paul McGann after Davidson's portrayal..

which if you think about it, kinda makes the art designs in this contest which feature the doctor as a child, or baby even more silly then first seen..

I think it's safe to assume that the next Doctor will be older than Matt was when he was hired, in fact I'd be fairly certain they might even be older than Matt will be when he hangs up his Fez.
