Warner Bros. Circling David Ayer for DC Comics’ ‘Suicide Squad’

Blade Trinity seemed like a mean joke told at Snipes' expense. From what I've read, perhaps not undeservedly, but I wouldn't mind if he had a chance at redeeming the character as part of the comic movies revival he started.

He certainly looks in good enough shape to reprise it. But I'm not necessarily sure that the vampirish world shown in those films would fit in with the MCU. I think I'd prefer him to return in a standalone series, though I'd be happy to see it under the Marvel Studios banner.

"Dr. Strange" is gonna knock down a lot of those metaphorical story walls.

^The supernatural is already fairly well-established in Arrow, with the likes of the Lazarus pit etc.

I take Corran's point about how Dr Strange will secure magic in the MCU. However, with the Blade movies, there was a sort of culture of vampires pulling strings behind the scenes and constituting a sort of secret government in some ways. The MCU has done something similar with Hydra and I just wonder how easily the two will sit together?

If they do bring Snipes' Blade into the MCU, I'm thinking they'd pretty much have to reboot and start over from scratch.

Not really. In most of the stories I've read and seen about it, the Lazarus Pit was treated more as a secret chemical formula that had extraordinary healing properties, more weird science than magic. Healing people on the brink of death, like Thea was, isn't so impossible that it demands a supernatural explanation -- implausible, but no more so than Mirakuru was, say. It wasn't until last week, when the Pit was used to resurrect Sara months after her death, that it was unambiguously established as paranormal.

I'd rather see Blade and the Nightstalkers redone as a Netflix show. Maybe Benedict Cumberbatch might be willing/able to put in a guest appearance as Doctor Strange, who manipulates Blade, Hannibal King, and Frank Drake into coming together to deal with various supernatural threats.

I'm hoping Deadshot will be a success, and that DC will be the franchise with actual non-white main characters.

Hey, they already gave us Steel and Catwoman! :D

And more seriously, folks... Marvel already did a Blade trilogy, but that was a while back. Although I think I heard a rumor that they've talked to Wesley Snipes about maybe bringing Blade into the MCU.

The Blade movies, though impactful at the time, are not part of the MCU (unless they retcon them). And after the glut of Twilight and Potter movies, I think Marvel might be wary of returning to the vamp/gothic fantasy well too soon.

(All speculation of course. They might surprise us with a Blade movie next year. :p )

Which is why I said "maybe bringing Blade into the MCU." They wouldn't need to bring him into it if he were already part of it.

Maybe he's just in character but Will Smith seems almost a little reluctant or weary or something in these pictures. Or maybe it's the ensemble thing but for a guy who built his career on larger-than-life roles his presence doesn't seem as dominant as it used to be.

Given what I've read about how Floyd Lawton was portrayed in Suicide Squad, I'd say that reluctance and weariness are entirely appropriate for the role, so I'm sure he's in character.

Have we seen Enchantress in any of the group shots from the movie, not including the big cast picture.

The rumour is that the Squad's mission is to capture/retrieve the Enchantress.

Trinity was a movie in need of a severe re-edit.
I don't know if you've seen the Blade TV series. I really like it, and I find the guy in that show less wooden than Snipes.

New Suicide Squad photo.
