Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

^"Unfinished business" apparently meaning that he finally gets to play a full-on supervillain, after missing his chance with Sinestro.

Well, she was in Taxi Driver but she didn't make it so I'm not sure what film is being referred to. Silence of the Lambs wasn't made by her either. Jodie Foster, star of Freaky Friday, Panic Room, Anna and the King, Nell, Maverick, and Sommersby has so many crappy movies on her IMDB page that she really doesn't have a credible opinion on this.

Shazam and Aquaman, my absolute favs. I'm 14 yrs old again. This is great. Aquaman was especially due. They could even put them together for all I care. They seem to go together - one for land, one for water. Now we just need a superhero for space.

A couple new bits of Batman news have come up. Rumors saying that Batfleck's last appearance might end up being in Suicide Squad 2 rather than Flashpoint are making the rounds, and they're also saying that Matt Reeve's Batman movie might be released as part of the group of standalone movies that is also going to include the Martin Scorsese Joker movie.

If rumours are to be believed (and people are of course perfectly entitled to disbelieve them until we hear clear statements from WB), it looks like WB are almost going back to the position over a decade ago when they were planning to have a Justice League film that would be in a different continuity and have different actors from Bale’s Batman or Routh’s short-lived Superman incarnation. Confusingly, while we appear to be getting standalone films outside the JL continuity such as those you mentioned, we also seem to be getting solo films for the JL ensemble; ie Aquaman, Flash, Wonder Woman etc.

Apologies for the double post - meant to multi-quote but messed up.

Oy...this is such a mess...

Outside the continuity??? I understand if Aquaman has little to do with Justice League other than a reference here or there...no prob.

But an entirely new continuity? If so, they might as well make the Grant Gustin Flash movie! Or have the Arrowverse Justice League.

Every DC Film Universe movie doesn't have to be a part of a bigger plot like Marvel's Infinity Gauntlet...but maaaaan...can they at least feel like they are part of ONE comic universe???

Your link just goes here, there's no point to it.
Oops, sorry about that, here's the correct link.

Yeah, the rumors are that they are going to be doing a combination of standalone movies under a unique banner, and the DCEU movies with Cavill Superman, Gadot Wonder Woman, Momoa Aquaman ect.

I just picture them going "Why are the Marvel movies so successful? Can't figure it out."

I think it's more that between Justice League and The Mummy both being very, very expensive disappointments, studios (with the exception of Hasbro, Jesus) are no longer chasing that "shared universe" dragon and are going to get back to just telling stories, and if a team-up movie idea happens and it's good, then cool, they'll do it.

David F. Sandberg, the director of Shazam! talked a bit about the movie's tone in Reddit post.
Sounds good to me, and avoiding the "quippy one liners" will be a good way to avoid to many comparisons to the MCU since that has kind of become their trademark.

Yeah, I suppose one liners would take away from Shazam being a horrible person and shaking down people he saves for money, like he literally did in his first time out as a "hero" in the New 52.

To be clear, the real Captain Marvel was never a "quippy" character, he was more of a "heart of gold" type guy. Nice, not depressed or anything but he wasn't doing much funny banter while fighting. So, a movie about the actual character would also not have him being "quippy". But, this is the DCEU. The only reason Shazam won't be quppiy is because he'll be brooding and robbing and generally being a little shit.

Read the script, then?

Literally every appearance by the character in every form of media since 2011 has been the same shitty version, except for a one shot comic by Grant Morrison (although that is also a shit story, its bad because it adds weird sex stuff to a CM story, not because Billy is a nutjob) and a mediocre Justice League Action cartoon appearance. Besides that, its all been the shitty version created by Geoff Johns in 2011.

Plus, its the DCEU. The guy who ruined Captain Marvel in the comics (Geoff Johns) is helping run it, and every damn movie but Wonder Woman (and kind of JL, after Whedon tried to fix it) has royally fucked up every character in it. So, yeah, its not a question that the DCEU Shazam will be an unheroic asshole. Its mostly a question of if he'll just shake down people he saves for money and act like a shitty teen, or if he does that and then starts murdering people, because its the DCEU. I'd also put money on Billy being a pervert, probably with him looking up a skirt or something and having that be play for laughs.

Really, EB will do what it almost always does. Fuck over the character entirely, and in just about the worst way that is reasonably possible ("reasonably possible" means they're not going to make a character a cannibal or something).
