Warlord

She gave him a lung and dared him to have a baby with her. He tried to kill Tom Paris for looking at her funny, and yelled at her for knowing where other men lived...

Sounds like a regular relationship to me.

Wow, if I'm in a relationship like that, god help me.

Seriously though, the lung thing I can understand but it was so early into the series when we believed there was a relationship. When was the whole baby thing? I don't recall that episode?

I really liked this episode. It was a good opportunity for Jen Lien to show off her range as an actress.

But then again I also loved Elogium. So I don't know how serious one can take me.

Nothing wrong with liking "Elogium".

However, I consider it a rather weak episode. There were some things in it that didn't make sense. But Jennifer Lien's acting is superb.

I'm not a huge VOY fan, but when eps are real good, like Warlord, they're particularly enjoyable. I'm glad Jennifer Lien got a chance to play a character as deliciously despicable as Tieran. What also struck me is how sexual Tieran is, whether he's acting like a female, or in Kes's mind, when he tries to seduce her, too! He knows how to use sex as a weapon! What a horndog! Like Ghenghis Khan and Don Juan rolled into one! Ghenghis Juan? Or Don Khan? Woo-hoo! -- RR

The cut scene was reportedly from "Fair Trade" there realy was no mention of their relationship yay or nay until "Darkling" when the Doctor mentioned their recent breakup.

But they only mentioned the break up in Darkling because Kes was trying to get some and at first glance it was awful because I (must have?) sassumed she was cheating on the hedgehog. Darkling was 8 episodes after Warlord. That's an awful amount of time where we thought she was still with Neelix, because the break up in Warlord was not of her "doings" that if she had been a free agent for 8 episodes there's no telling how many opportunities she had to get her leg over she didn't pass up on we were not a privilege to.

And 8 episodes in Ocampan years is quite a long stretch - hopefully she didn't have that long a dry spell.

Definitely one of the best Kes eps. I love the part after we see her and Tieran fighting it out in her mind, and Tieran yells out, over and over again, that he'll be "Stronger than ever!" -- RR

I was annoyed how Tieran's girl was irked art the thought of getting physical with Kes' tight little leather rapped body AND being stuffed into a threesome with that prince dweeb.

I'll be relentless and merciless. Just. Like. You.

Warlord is one of my all-time favourite Voyager episodes ever!

Maybe she would be more interested if it were two guys and her at the same time! You know, how most guys would prefer the other two in a threesome be women! :bolian: -- RR

Warlord is one of the best Kes episodes.Almost as good as Elogium
What a great actor.

Yes that was the one disappointing aspect...the complete lack of lesbian snogging!

But would it really have been lesbian snogging? That was the same guy she had been screwing for YEARS under the hood. A man she supposedly loved. A man who's power and esteem probably entitled her to a world of lavish comfort and opulence... But it turned out that she couldn't see past the vagina (which was attached to what could be confused for the body of a small boy, so it's not like their pending homosexualness would be too much of a difference as he whispered the same sweet nothing into her ear while they... ) into the soul of her beloved, who if memory serves had already body slid at least once already but into another bloke. It seems that she could see past most any penis into his soul. How delightful.

Love means never having to say "can you excuse my gender bending?"

That episode of TNG with (The Host?) Trill Riker having Monkey sex with Bev was years earlier that I did not reexpect an equivalently homophobic response this time around that the "life" parter would accept any boyfriend the displaceable personality wandered into but not even one of the most gorgeous women on TV?

Xena almost got smited off the airways for having a guy and a girl kiss because the guy had the soul of a woman using it as a taxi. They paid their money and took their chances and we got to see Xena and Gabby make out finally! Even if it was really Bruce Campbell as the camera started using a special filter to see their souls as the the music bumped up a notch into super soppy.

Result!

But same difference.

Janice Lester? Was there anything strange going on in the final episode of TOS? I mean, how coincidental that they chose to cancel he show after... O, I doubt they had the balls to push those particular margins back then, but at least they had a reason. It was the 60s.

I give "Elogium" points for tying just about every scene and subplot of the episode into it's main theme (and having the sheer gall to give Tuvok the line: "It appears we have lost our sex appeal")... but that's about it. It has its moments, though, Tuvok's counsel about parenting being another.

Agreed about "Warlord", though. This episode is my favourite Kes episode, and the reason is chiefly Lien's performance - though it's got a pretty good script about a power mad dictator who finds himself as an impish nymph with incredible mind powers.
