Warehouse 13 1x03: Grading and Discussion

Warehouse 13 1x03 "Magnetism"

Pete and Myka are sent to investigate a town where the inhabitants' minds are being altered making them act as they please. Meanwhile, Artie is confused by the energy flows going on in the warehouse.

There seems to be enough lingering interest to warrant another thread. But as others have said, I'm going to give it a few more episodes, and if it doesn't get better, I'll probably bail.

I really hope it does. I'm really intrigued by the concept and think it has a lot of potential. Also, I'm desperate for a good episodic sci-fi show; I'm getting a little tired of all the arc stuff.

There seems to be a lot of talent behind the show, so for now, I'm just going to go under the assumption they're playing it "safe" for the first few episodes. Though, this one looks like it might be a "bottle" episode.

Much better than last week. The part with the medic grabbing Myka's breasts was hillarious! Here's to hoping it stays entertaining...

Side note: I recall seeing a Pete/Myka make-out scene in one of the promos ... thought it would have been in this episode. I guess it was a good fake seeing as how the "do things they wouldn't normally" gag immediately made me think makeout scene.

I agree much better... much faster paced, liked the boob grab heaven help me, and the hacker angle is being built up briskly.

Does anyone else think the female lead resembles a young Sophia Loren?

I liked the episode too! Very much liking the series so far. Taking it for what it is, a light, fun, entertaining and unique. The chick is hot enough, although I don't know what a young Sofia Loren looks like, but sometimes she is hot and other times not....Can't really put my finger on it. And as a white guy that likes dark meat, the black chick is pretty decent looking, but I need to see more of her to decide. What is her job again? Is she Artie's assistant? Is she the Warehouse Caretaker? If so, is she a Gov employee?

Pete is fun! My girl thinks he isn't good looking enough, I don't care either way about that, but his character is great! Sharp and witty, yet easily falling prey to his own devices or the whims of Myka. He is able to triumph in defeat.

Liking Artie, starting to feel more and more like Artie and less and less like Fajo. I like seeing Artie manipulate the Objects (or Artifacts as I should call them) to make himself do anything. I would like to see more of Artie in the field. Maybe in a later episode when Myka or Pete has some vaca time.

Overall, not a show to stay with you awhile like a good X-files episode or a freaky Farscape run, but I know I am taken care of Tuesday nights on Syfy.....(still hating that syfy thing, I mean what is wrong with Warehouse 13 being on the SciFi channel? That should be a good thing, not a bad thing. /rant).

Yup. It was a solid episode. It had a good mix of action and humor.

I did like the boob bit, but I got a good chuckle out of the thing with the car at the end.

One little nitpick is, I hope the lighten up on the red herrings a bit. The problem is, if you do it every episode, the viewers start to expect them, and they become less effective.

But, the show does seem to better itself each time out. Hopefully this trend will continue over the coarse of the season.

I see there is a discussion part to this thread but not a grading section... which is fortuitous since this show kinda sucks... Here's hoping they will improve.

I liked it a lot better. They should have jiggered around the scripts and made this the first ep after the pilot. The pacing, the banter, the humor, it was all much stronger here.

Is there some reason there isn't a POLL for the Grading as is the site's usual practice?

I agree, now that I think of it.

I've been watching the 3 episodes to date and I like the series. I love the dynamic between Pete and Myka but I'm bothered by the arc plot. Do we really need it?

Also, this is the first thread I pick up, I couldn't help but notice a modern ocean liner in the first episode (as well as planes and one or two zeppelins). I wonder where it came from.

Bermuda Triangle episode, anyone?

I thought this was the worst episode by far. The juvenile sniping between the two partners REALLY got on my nerves. If I want to watch that crap, I'll go in the other room and listen to my 16-yr old daughter and my 13-yr old son harranguing each other. I thought there was some budding respect between the two in the first two episodes and this just blew it out of the water. Overall, Myka and Pete just annoyed me in this epi. They seem to have the intelligence and maturity of 9-yr olds.

I'll watch next week and if it isn't better than this crap, I'm done.

But, yes, the young black woman is HOT.

Yes I thought about that, especially since Artie mentioned the Triangle in the pilot. All planes and boats could come from the Triangle but I'm thinking it's too easy an answer. I hope there'll give us more than that.
