Warehouse 13 1x02: Grading and Discussion

[ ] Can't get enough!
[ ] Love it!
[x] Like it.
[ ] It needs work.
[ ] I now know when I'm getting my hair done.
[ ] My eyes! They're bleeding!

Like Luckyflux, I desperately wanted to love Eureka. But the tone never worked for me, and I'm not sure why. All the right elements seemed to be there, but not a single episode seemed to hit the mark.

Warehouse 13, on the other hand, seems to be succeeding a bit better. "Resonance" was better than the pilot, although a bit predictable, and I found the resolution moving. Not quite to tears -- it's just allergies, really -- but I loved it. Artie's a pretty good character (not great, but close), and the chemistry between Pete and Myka works.

I'm surprised Dickenson's still around, though. And intrigued. Something bigger than either agency is probably looming in future episodes.

More than Eureka, this show reminds me of The Invisible Man, but somewhat less adolescently cynical. Fredrick's agency isn't lost in the bureaucracy, but is a competent contender and the Warehouse has more pull than the Bureau of Land Management or National Park Service that Fawkes found himself working for.

After thinking about it ... is this the American Torchwood?

Department of Fish and Game, initially, though it moved around between different "front" agencies in the second season.

I don't think so. The tone and style are too different. The only similarity is that they both involve secretive teams dealing with abnormal phenomena, but there have been plenty of shows like that.

This show is quickly falling into "oh...is that still on...?" territory for me. I'll probably continue a bit longer, but that's mainly because it's a slow time of the year for tv.

Well I'll give it another shot but only because Joe Flanigan will guest star in the Aug 4 eppy. (Yes I know that's why they cast him, I'm falling for it, so sue me.)

If they'd kill the main guy and replace him with Flanigan, I might stick around. The character is obviously just the standard Stargate snarky type, which Flanigan is as good at performing as anyone I've seen. Then they can kill Myka and replace her with someone who can act.

I don't think Pete is "snarky" -- more like boyish and playful. Snark implies a jaded, cynical view, and Pete's too wide-eyed and enthusiastic for that.

I enjoy Lattimer, it's Myka that I could do without.

This show is harmless fluff, and is fine during the summmer. I doubt that I would be watching it if it were on during the regular season, though.

Well so far it has improved on the pilot IMO,but like CorporalCleg said this show will grow on us in time.
Is anybody going to watch tonight?

Boy, for being tossed into such an over the top fantasy environment, those agents bedded in fast.

I like this show, and I couldn't begin to tell you why. I found the tone of Eureka tiresome, and this show seems to be cut from the same cloth. It's light weight, and if I missed an episode I wouldn't care, but for now I'm entertained.
