I feel sorry for the dog, the owners and the employee.

I do wonder however why the dog was unchipped and was not even wearing a tag.

Even when they're willing to admit that it wasn't an accident, they use the passive voice to avoid blame, e.g. "mistakes were made," "it could not be helped," etc.

Children are masters at it. My personal favourite is "It broke".

They're just masters of the passive voice.

But, yeah, this is a sad story. Real shame to hear
