News Wang and McNeill: Voyager Disappointments And Hopes

Wang really does do good impressions. A talent show is a terrible idea, but maybe a scene where Kim is impersonating Janeway in the mess hall while she walks up behind him could have been a fun teaser.

Wang also seems weirdly bitter about that awful episode where the Doctor took over Seven's body.
Hey! I liked that episode. But it only works because of the chemistry between the Doctor and Seven. Having the Doctor in Kim's body would have been terrible.

Piffle. They're too mainstream. Tom and Harry (who are missing their other namesake since they're not any old Tom, ___ or Harry) should have been Devo fans:

Nah, I find Devo too mainstream.
Just boring synth pop.

Oddly, the article doesn't really bring up their Podcast, which I find to be pretty enjoyable. I know they're saving their thoughts on the overall show to later episodes, but so far (nearing the end of Season 2) it's been a fun ride.

Depends on how good an actor Garrett Wang is. Given how totally sidelined his character was (I sometimes call him Star Trek's most durable redshirt), there's no way to know.

I didn't really mean that the acting would have been terrible. I meant more that it wouldn't work from a character viewpoint. The Doctor and Seven have a longstanding relationship and to me what makes "Body and Soul" work is the contrast between the two: The Doctor's hedonism versus Seven's self-discipline. The Doctor and Kim don't really have the same connection.

If you were going to rewrite the episode to feature Wang, I think you would wan to put Paris in Kim's body because of the relationship between the two.

Or Janeway's. And for whatever reason, no one can know they've been swapped. So, Harry has to command the ship, and Janeway has to give subtle hints on how to do so.

I don't really blame them for not letting him do impressions or a talent show... I've heard garret do captain and it's pretty bad(in my opinion oof course). But I do feel bad for the lack of character development.

Fair enough... I think his Janeway is actually pretty good.

It's too bad he didn't get to use it in the show... it could be used to explain why he was still an ensign after 7 years: never do impressions of the captain!
