Walter Harriman in SGU?

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
I'm watching SGU from the Episode Air and I don't know if it brought up the first time round but why was Walter at the Pentagon with O'Neill wearing what appeared to be Marine BDU's instead of his airforce uniform?

I thought his position was just a Senior Gate Technician and Aide to the CO at the SGC.

They never quite explained what happened to the SGC.
Cheyenne Mountain was closed down in real life. Maybe they closed it down in the Stargate World too.

That does seem to be a popular theory, what with Atlantis being on Earth now it is likely that the SGC was transferred there, since its Pegasus gate would have overrided Cheyenne Mountain's Milky Way gate anyway. Since Atlantis has its own gate technician, Chuck, Walter was likely sent to the Pentagon to be O'Neill's aide. After all, Walter basically was Landry's aide during the final years of SG-1. And Walter was wearng an Air Force uniform in Air.

'Cause Walter's awesome! He doesn't need to explain himself to you. :)

Seriously, Walter is definitely an Almighty Janitor.

Don't all branches of the US Armed Forces all wear the same BDU variations now?

And Walter is probably at the Pentagon if the SGC is shut down (and I suspect the SGA guest stars will drop a line as to the fate of Atlantis). That, or he simply wanted to tranfer to a job in a building with actual windows. Seriously, working for 12+ years in a cave with identical corridors and rooms everywhere you go? That'd drive anyone nuts.

No, in fact each service now wears different BDU with different patterns.

Army. UCP or multicam ACU
Air Force: UCP tiger stripe or multicam ABU
Marine Corps: Digital woodland or desert MARPAT
Navy: NWU type I,II,&III. Similar to MARPAT but slight color alterations (which drove the Marines up the wall espeically since there may be pressure to switch to NWU II/III). Digital Blue/Gray, Woodland, and Desert patterns.
Coast Guard: Still using old solid Navy Blue, woodland and desert BDUs. Don't be surprised if they are pressured to adopt the NWU.

I stand corrected. I remember reading something several years ago stating the that the various branches were adopting a more standardized BDU design as a cost-saving measure. Given that most of my references these days come from watching Stargate and other US military-themed sci-fi (IRon Man, Transformers...), they are obviously not the best references. :P
